Hi guys,

we know in Shattered Veil zombies, the original ray gun is always king and the Ray Gun Mark II is its queen, but we can even further improve the RAYGUN MARK II to become the RAYGUN MARK II W, P or R in this map. If that's still not enough for you......you can also upgrade it to a style of your choosing as it comes in 3 different upgrade variants.

Let's find out what these variants are, how to obtain them and also the difference between each.



The locations of the BLUE CRYSTALS that contain CANISTERS, can be in one of 4 known locations within the map. These are:

  • East Foyer - On the ceiling, where the steps lead up to the OVERLOOK area.


  • Service tunnel - Just outside the entrance to the SUPPLY DEPOT area, on the ceiling.





  • Conservatory - on the roof of the barn that you enter when coming in from the LOWER TERRACE AREA side.



  • South West Balcony - just outside on the balcony of the NURSERY area on the back wall of the mansion.




RAY GUN MARK II W variant
Once we have obtained one of the CANISTERS from one of these BLUE ROCK locations, run to the SHEM'S HENGE area of the map. Once there, look for the YELLOW machine up against the wall near the SPEED COLA PERK MACHINE and INTERACT with this machine to place the CANISTER inside the machine.




Then run down the steps in the area of SHEM'S HENGE to where the ROCKS are arranged in a circular pattern. You will notice that 2 ABOMINATIONS will have spawned into the map, along with a load of zombies. 




Although your first instinct is to obliterate the 2 ABOMINATIONS, we actually need their help in this area in order to obtain this ray gun variant.

What you need to do is find the 3 SMALLER ROCKS within the circles of rocks that make up SHEM'S HENGE and hide behind them when the ABOMINATION fires his blue energy beam at you. Keep hiding there until you see the rock GLOWING BLUE. 




Then, for that same rock, you need to get the ABOMINATION to charge at you while standing in front of the rock, then step out of the way and get it to crash into it.





When it crashes into the BLUE GLOWING ROCK with its CHARGE ATTACK, it will emit an electrical pulse / discharge from its body. This will then cause the small rock to start floating in the air and you can move onto the other two rocks in this area to do the same to.

So for all the 3 smaller rocks in this area we rinse and repeat the following process:
  • Charge the smaller rock with the ABOMINATIONS energy beam
  • When the rock is glowing blue, entice and direct the ABOMINATION charge at the rock and crash into it
  • The ABOMINATION when coming away from the rock will emit an electrical discharge, causing it to float in the air
Once all 3 rocks are floating in the air, a NEW OBJECTIVE will appear and the device in the centre of SHEM'S HENGE on the ground will activate. This device is called the ENERGY SIPHON. 





Once active a PURPLE PORTAL will appear on the ground and energy from the BLUE ROCKS floating in the air will be pulled towards it. All you have to do here is keep back all of the VERMIN that will spawn in from attacking the  ENERGY SIPHON, until it charges up to 100%.

Once the progressed bar on the right hand side has reached 100%, go back to the machine you placed the CANISTER in to charge and pick it up again. 


This CANISTER will not be called the EXPLOSIVE CANISTER, so be careful with it, I don't want to see you juggling it about and shaking it like maracas as you walk along.

Now take this EXPLOSIVE CANISTER to the WORKBENCH in the SUPPLY DEPOT area.



Interact with this WORKBENCH and it will upgrade it to be the RAYGUN MARK II W VARIANT!

RAY GUN MARK II R variant
Next up, let's find out how to craft the R variant of the RAYGUN MARK II. Just like the other upgrade, we will first need to OBTAIN AN EMPTY CANISTER. This time around, it is not from he BLUE ROCKS around the map, but from a ZOMBIE SPAWN location in the REAR PATIO area of the map.




Next we need to obtain a LT-53 KAZIMIR GRENADE. We can craft one of these from a CRAFTING TABLE location, however if you want one for free and have opened up the map, head over to the SERVICE TUNNEL area and in the middle of it where there is a TRUCK with a ZOMBIE WEARING ARMOUR who has been crushed by what looks like falling debris from above. Pick up this grenade and we can move to the REAR PATIO area of the map.




Just underneath the DOUBLE TAP PERK MACHINE in this area, is a ZOMBIE SPAWN LOCATION, which is facing the sniper rifle wall buy here. All you have to do is throw the KAZIMIR GRENADE in front of this window. 




This will then create the mini black hole which pulls everything towards it. When it is activated, it will pull a CANISTER out of the ZOMBIE SPAWN WINDOW and drop it onto the ground. 

Pick up this CANISTER and we can move onto the next stage.

We now need to do some destructive gardening I would call it. We need to go around the map and find locations where there are ORANGE SPORES growing, We then need to shoot these with the RAYGUN MARK II gun only. If you shoot these with a NORMAL GUN, they will not drop the PLANT SEEDS and you will have to wait for them to grow back. You can also destroy them with EXPLOSIVES and MOLOTOV'S as well if the RAY GUN is not handy at that time.

When they blow up after being shot with the RAY GUN MARK II, they will drop a PLANT SEED. Pickup this PLANT SEED and keep collecting SEEDS from different spore locations, until you have 4 in total.

Some known locations of the PLANT SPORES that can be destroyed are located in:
  • CONSERVATORY - in between the MYSTERY BOX spawn location and the CONCRETE FOUNTAIN in this area, up against the opposite wall facing the mansions left hand side.





  • MOTOR COURT - 2 locations in this area. One to the left hand side of the mansions entrance / front door that leads to the GRAND FOYER area. The other location is in the bottom right hand corner of the MOTOR COURT area, near to where the CRAFTING TABLE is located.


  • GARDEN POND in the corner of the BRIDGE, to the left hand side of the WALL GUN BUY on the lower level underneath the bridge, near the staircase that takes you up to the AMMO BOX.

  • WEST BALCONY - growing at the base of one of the 2 trees outside on the balcony, grows on the one nearest the stair case to take you up to the DIRECTOR'S QUARTERS.

  • SHEM'S HENGE - one also appears from here from time to time.

When we have our 4 PLANT SEEDS collected, we need to head over to the CONSERVATORY area and to the greenhouse that has 2 YELLOW PLANT PODS for growing seeds in. We then need to go into the centre of the greenhouse and place our EMPTY CANISTER we collected from the REAR PATIO area into the YELLOW MACHINE to fill it up.





We need to go up to the YELLOW PLANT PODS and interact with them. There are 4 planting pods in total, 2 inside this greenhouse, 1 in the barn where the Microwave Trap is located and the last one is just outside this conservatory on the porch where the mystery box spawn is in this location. 




When you interact with each plant pod, you will notice some green energy starting to emit from the soil inside the plant pod. This is because you have successfully planted the seed into one of the pods.

This will then show a progress bar on the left hand side of the screen for "TOXIC SPORES HARVESTED". All you need to do here is stop zombies from attacking the PLANT POD who have PURPLE EYES. You will need to defend it for about a minute before it successfully reaches 100% the progress bar. 


We will have to do this a total of 4 times, as we have 4 seeds and 4 planting pods. It is best doing these planting pods 1 at a time, rather than planting all 4 seeds in all 4 planters at the same time as trying to protect all 4 at the same time is quite a challenge, especially in solo mode.

If the zombies break the seeds in a plant pod, simply pick up the seed and try putting it in again, restarting the defend mechanic.




Once all 4 plant seeds have fully grown, you can then pick up the CANISTER which will now be called the TOXIC CANSTER. 





Then you need to take it to the GARDEN POND area in order to use the WORKBENCH to craft the RAY GUN MARK II R variant.

RAY GUN MARK II P variant
For this last ray gun upgrade, we have to find a few things around the map first before we start playing with science. We need to first find 2 REFLECTORS that are located in this map and pick them up.

The first reflector is located in the CONSERVATORY area, inside the CONCRETE FOUNTAIN to the right of the QUICK REVIVE PERK MACHINE. Simply run up to this fountain and hold the INTERACT button and you will pick up the REFLECTOR, which is hard to notice.....this is not a.....reflection on your eyesight......they are just hard to see as they blend in with their surroundings.



The second reflector is located just outside the NURSERY in a very similar CONCRETE FOUNTAIN. Simply interact with this one also and you will notice you will have picked up a second reflector.



Now we have 2 REFLECTORS collected, we will need to obtain a COMBAT AXE from either the CRAFTING TABLE or from one of the known locations it spawns at for FREE.

The 3 locations we know of so far where you can get a FREE COMBAT axe are:
 
  • GARDEN POND AREA - to the left of the workbench and sitting along with other axes that are being used to cut wood.

  • NURSERY AREA - underneath the bed in the nursery there is a COMBAT AXE laying at the side of the bed.




  • SECURITY OVERLOOK AREA - just off the MAINFRAME CHAMBER is the SECURITY OVERLOOK area and it has the COMBAT AXE sitting on a trolley in the right hand side of this small area.



Now we have our COMBAT AXE in hand, head down to the SERVICE TUNNEL area and to the left of where the DOPPERGHAST was kept captive in his cell, you might notice some GAS PIPES where one of them may or may not already be LEAKING GAS from one of its VALVES.




If the gas valve on the far left of the pipes is already leaking, move onto the middle gas valve. When you have to do here is throw the COMBAT AXE so that it hits the valves and makes each of them leak gas. You will need to hit them in the following order shown in the images below:



You will know it has been successful when you see the dialogue from S.A.M. mentioning that a GAS LEAK has been detected. I would highly advise not lighting a match until you get the heck outta here.

Now if you head over to the MAIN CHAMBER area, you will notice to the left hand side of the CRAFTING TABLE, there is a CAPSULE filling up with GAS. All you have to do is throw an explosive, such as SEMTEX, in front of the capsule and it will cause a gas explosion.




This will then reveal the CANISTER you need to charge up for this ray gun variant upgrade. Pick it up and we will move onto the next part.

We now need to find something called the ESSENCE BOMB. This can be found in random locations around the map in the DESTRUCTIBLE PROJECT JANUS BOXES located in each of the main areas.

These are white boxes that when shot will drop thing slike vermin, salvage etc. However one of them in the map will drop the ESSENCE BOMB at some point which you will need to pick up.

Some locations these boxes can spawn at include, but are not limited to:

  • Rear Patio

  • Conservatory

  • Service Tunnel


  • Library

  • South West Balcony

Once we get the correct box and have picked up the ESSENCE BOMB< we are going to use it to access a secret area of the map called the SERPENT MOUND, just off the SERVICE TUNNEL area.


Head to the SERVICE TUNNEL area and to the left of the ARMOR WALL BUY, there is some RUBBLE where it looks like part of a tunnel has caved in and become blocked.





Simply interact with this rubble and it will place the ESSENCE BOMB. Stand back and watch the fireworks light the place up. This will then reveal a tunnel that if you continue down into, it will open up into a room called the SERPENT MOUND, where you will see figures worshipping a central snake like statue in the middle of the room.


Enter this room and we will get to work charging the CANISTER we picked up for this ray gun variant.

When you enter the room, there are 2 locations where you need to place the REFLECTORS you picked up from earlier.  These REFLECTORS go on the end of two poles which have a slight ball on the end of them.





The first location of the reflector location is just to the left of the entrance to this new room when you enter, which is beside one of the DOPPELGHAST STATUES.

The other REFLECTOR location is just on the opposite side of the room, to the left of the yellow machine we place the CANISTER in to charge. This is also to the right of the WALL GUN BUY in this room.




We can then place the CANISTER into the yellow canister charging machine to activate another objective, which will appear no the left hand side of the screen again. This time the objective wants us to HARVEST 3 DOPPELGHAST SOULS.

You may wonder where are the DOPPERLGHASTS? That's easy, they are sleeping inside the statues that we will bring to life in this area.

Once the CANISTER is located into the machine, you will notice a CRYSTAL in the middle of the room, emitting a BLUE ENERGY BEAM that is shooting and being refracted from the reflectors onto a DOPPELGHAST STATUE. 








For this first DOPPERLGHAST, all you should have to do is go up to the BLUE CRYSTAL and MELEE it. Once you MELEE it, it will send a BLUE ENERGY PULSE through the ENERGY BEAM and follow it down to the DOPPELGHAST STATUE.

When it hits this statue, the doppelghast will come alive. All you have to do is kill it and we can move onto realigning the REFLECTORS to his another DOPPERGHAST STATUE and bring it to life.



To then move the direction of the beam from the crystal to a new doppelghast statue, we simply melee the reflector that is near the entrance / exit to the room once. This will then make a beam shoot up towards a cave in the floor above you. 




You then need to go over to where you placed the reflector on the opposite side of this room and interact with it to pick it up. Then just to the right of the CANISTER MACHINE, there is a small tunnel that will lead you up to the 1st floor where one of the energy beams is now shining into.




Hold the interact button where the beam is now hitting the wall and it will place down the reflector and it will create a new beam and direction for it to go in. Before going back downstairs, the reflector you just placed down, melee it ONCE and it will change the beam direction to land on another DOPPELGHAST statue down below.




Then drop down to the CRYSTAL in the middle of the room and melee it one more time to send the pulse through the energy beam to activate the DOPPELGHAST. Kill him and then we can move onto the last doppelghast statue.

You will have to go up and pick up the reflector you placed upstairs and return it back to where it was originally. Then go to the reflector near the exit again and punch is roughly twice to realign the energy beam to the last doppelghast statue. If the bean is pointing upwards at a diagonal right sort of angle, it should be aligned successfully.







Then go and melee the crystal one more time to send the energy pulse and activate the last DOPPELGHAST STATUE. 

This one is slightly more tougher than the others, but not by much.

When you destroy him the SERPENT STATUE in the middle should start to GLOW PURPLE. Head over to the yellow canister machine and you should be able to pick up a charged canister which is now called the LIGHT CANISTER....even though what its name suggests.....I bet it's quite heavy.



We then simply need to take it to the WORK BENCH in the DIRECTORS QUARTERS and use it to craft the RAYGUN MARK II P VARIANT.
