Hi guys,

here is an Easter egg on the Shattered Veil zombies map where we haven't got the foggiest.....excuse the pun....where we can get a fog to roll in on the map and limit our vision. Now you are probably thinking why would I want to do that? Well in this fog, it does make Purple Aether Crystals spawn in all round the map while the fog is present and if you destroy each one it does reward us with lots of loot, essence etc.

However some zombie players think the amount of work to be done to activate the Easter egg, which is in reference to Jason Blundell and one of his Fog Rolling in quote "We have a larger scale than we have ever done before, further enhanced by dynamic weather, from rain, fog rolling in, snow falling." is just not worth the effort.

Nonetheless you are the boss of your own zombie playthroughs and if you think it's worth it, then that is all that counts. Here is how to do it.




We first need to head over to the SUPPLY DEPOT area and look inside a SMALL AIRVENT where some WIRES are coming out of. In this small vent, you will see a BABY VERMIN inside. When you find it, interact with it to pick it up. It is located to the left of the WORKBENCH for building the RAYGUN VARIANT in this area.

Once the BABY VERMIN is acquired, head over to the MAINFRAME CHAMBER area and then on the left hand side of the steps that leads up to the SECURITY OVERLOOK, there is a ZOMBIE SPAWN WINDOW location, where if you look into it, you will see a sign that says HIGH VOLTAGE. 

Just below this HIGH VOLTAGE SIGN there is 3 COLOURED BOTTLES on another SIGN. These COLOURED BOTTLES are specific shapes as well as having a specific number of DROPS coming out of each of the bottles underneath them.

This graphic of the 3 BOTTLES IS RANDOM EVERY SINGLE GAME and is not the same on each playthrough. The bottles will be PINK, ORANGE and GREEN colours.




The DROPS UNDER EACH BOTTLE, is basically telling us the order we will need to shoot these 3 bottles when we come across them in the next step.

In this playthrough the bottles will need to be shot when we come across them, in the following order:

  1. PINK
  2. ORANGE
  3. GREEN
You will then want to go to where the CRAFTING TABLE is in the MAINFRAME CHAMBER and near it, closer to the ZIPLINE in the ELEVATOR SHAFT. Here you will find an empty TRAY that you will need to interact with. Once you interact with it, it will place down the BABY VERMIN on the tray.





You will then notice that there are 3 types of bottles sitting beside the SPECIMEN TRAY you placed the BABY VERMIN onto. These bottles correspond to the bottles on the sign in the zombie spawn you were looking at, which had the HIGH VOLTAGE WARNING on it.




This diagram below shows which bottle corresponds to which colour on the desk. Remember how many drops were coming out of each bottle, this is the order each needs shot in and this will be this step completed.

Once the bottles have been shot in the correct order, there will be a yellow/green vapour given off by the BABY VERMIN. When this is happening, it means you can now pick it back up once again.

We will then need to find a MICROWAVE around the map, which can be found in 3 locations. 

2 of these locations are in the WEST HALLWAYS area and 1 is located near the AMMO BOX as you come out of the DIRECTORS QUARTERS and head down the corridor to the SOUTHWEST BALCONY area. Just before entering the SOUTHWEST BALCONY area, it is up against the wall the MICROWAVE in the corridor, on the left hand side.





The 2nd Location in the WEST HALLWAYS is when you head from the WEST HALLWAYS to the OVERLOOK area. There is another MICROWAVE sitting just beside the POWERED DOOR in this area that is locked when PACK A PUNCH is not active.




Last but not least, the third location is on the other side of where the 2nd MICROWAVE is and is in the OVERLOOK area, to the left of the door you would enter to get access to the WEST HALLWAYS and NURSERY area.




We can interact with any of these 3 MICROWAVES so take your pick. When you activate it, you will place the BABY VERMIN inside the MICROWAVE where he will cook for a short period of time. When he is inside cooking, there will be a green/yellow gas emitting from the microwave.




Once the cooking procedure has been completed, the gas will turn from the yellowy green to be red. this is when you can user the INTERACT button on the microwave again to pick up the BABY VERMIN.

For our next step, we will need to obtain the WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 either from getting it for free from the ELEVATOR SHAFT or by other means such as as the MYSTERY BOX.



Once you have obtained this, you can then head back down to the MAINFRAME CHAMBER area and on the flight of steps leading up to the SECURITY OVERLOOK on the RIGHT HAND SIDE, you will notice there is a POOL OF RED BLOOD splattered on the wall and floor.






Simply INTERACT with the BLOOD on the floor and you will notice your character will DROP THE BABY VERMIN INTO THE PUDDLE OF BLOOD. When this happens, simply look above where the stairs you just came up from to get to this puddle of blood and you will notice a LARGE FAN in the ceiling.





Simply shoot this FAN with the WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 and it will cause it to start spinning. When it spins, it will suck the BABY VERMIN into the FAN and then it will stop. RED VAPOUR will start emitting from the FAN now, letting you know you have done this step correctly.




If you run outside the mansion now and to the MOTOR COURT area, you will notice that the CHIMNEYS of the mansion will be bellowing out RED SMOKE. This is a good sign and means we are almost at the end of this Easter egg.

What you need to do is now acquire a CHOPPER GUNNER KILLSTREAK, which is done easiest by just buying it from the CRAFTING TABLE for 2500 points.







When you get it, activate it and look up at the chimneys with the red smoke with your mini gun on the chopper. Shoot the chimneys with the red smoke and each one you shoot will let off a FIREWORK into the air. Shoot all of the chimneys and there will be a chime sound at the end when all are successfully extinguished and their fireworks fired into the air.





When you spawn back into the map you will see a fog start to .....roll in....and it will make things a bit more difficult to see.

The only reward you will get for doing this is that PURPLE AETHER CRYSTALS will spawn all around the map while the fog is active. It is only active for about 1-2 minutes then it disappears and allows you to collect a lot of salvage, armour and points etc really is all it is good for.

Now we have made it back to the LIBRARY area, this no time for reading by the way, we need to interact with 3 WHITE BOOKS on the SHELVES of the library. These are glowing white and hard to miss when you see them.

The GLOWING WHITE BOOKS will have symbols on their sides, which can be hard to see here in the normal LIBRARY area, but if you go through the PORTAL to the LIMINIAL LIBRARY, you can see the books on the shelves in the opposite realm.







If you go up and look at the spines of these books, you will see the symbols on the sides of them which correspond to the book sin the normal LIBRARY area. These symbols will be:
  • Sideways 6
  • Circle with a line through it
  • Three dots
People say if you interact with the books in the normal LIBRARY AREA in the above order, it usually works out to be the correct order they need to be activated in to open a secret part in the LIBRARY, where the shelves drop down and we see a small secret room being revealed. 

Going into this room, you will find a DOCUMENT lying on a table which is the NUCLEAR PLANT INSPECTION REPORT document. Pick this up and you will then be ready to head into the LIMINIAL LIBRARY / PORTAL to fight the boss for this mini quest section. This document also doubles up as the ARTEFACT INTEL ITEM.







You will know when you activated each book in the correct order if it gives of a BLUE, SMOKEY WHIPS OF ENERGY from it. This means it is the correct sequence. If you are having difficulty getting the secret area in the LIBRARY to open, simply try the following pattern to activate the books in correctly:
  • Activate MIDDLE, LEFT and then RIGHT BOOK
  • Activate LEFT, RIGHT and then MIDDLE BOOK
  • Activate RIGHT, MIDDLE and then LEFT BOOK
  • Activate LEFT, MIDDLE and then RIGHT BOOK
  • Activate RIGHT, LEFT and then MIDDLE BOOK

Once we have the document, we can hop into the LIBRARY LIMINIAL PORTAL and into the LIMINIAL LIBRARY and place the SENTINEL ARTEFACT onto the PLINTH near the left hand side of the room. Another ghostly figure will appear above the ARTEFACT while the boss is active and will be watching you while you do battle with it.








This will then summon the BOSS for this mini lockdown event, which is called THRINPIT and it will have a YELLOW BUBBLE SHIELD around it which, you guessed it, will have to take down with the YELLOW RAYGUN MARK II R VARIANT. Then when his shields are down, like the other boss you fought previously, try to get head shots on it as much as you can to deal the most amount of damage when they are down, before they come back up again.

Rinse and repeat this process until they are destroyed. This boss will also be accompanied by TOXIC ZOMBIES so watch out, as we know these are slightly more dangerous than your average normal zombie, as they leave the clouds of toxic gas that damage is a lot if we stand on them.







The best way to survive this boss fight is to keep moving and running loops around the room and up and down the stairs to dodge their attacks.

Once you have destroyed this boss, you will need to INTERACT with the ARTEFACT again on the plinth before moving on. Then we can move onto the final mini quest we need to complete with the RAY GUN MARK II P VARIANT.

RAY GUN MARK II P Mini Quest
Last up is the RAYGUN MARK II P VARIANT which can be obtained from the WORKBENCH LOCATION in the DIRECTORS QUARTERS. Simply craft it here once more, then head over to the BANQUET HALL area.

In here you will see a LARGE PAINTING again and next to it, the third times a charm, there is another COMPUTER to the left hand side of this PAINTING. Simply hold the use button on the COMPUTER to activate the usual soul box collecting exercise for the painting. 





This requires destroying 5-10 zombies near the painting so the souls are collected and then once it has enough, it activates the LIMINAL PORTAL for this painting.

When you go through the portal, you will be in the LIMINIAL BANQUET HALL. In here will be another ghostly apparition to the right hand side of the portal as you enter.

What you need to do here is from the table in the middle of the room, pick up the RED BOTTLE OF WINE on the table in the bottom right hand corner of the table, nearest where the apparition appears.






Interact with this RED BOTTLE OF WINE, then we will exit out of this area and go around the map and try to spawn in 3 DISCIPLES around the map.

These can be spawned in by finding the CHALICE LOCATIONS around the map and interacting with them to summon an ELDER DISCIPLE. 

Let's find out where these CHALICES will spawn so we can make it easier on ourselves:

  • Bottlery - on a table next to the small steps inside this area. It has a bottle of wine sitting beside it on the table the CHALICE. Interact with it and the ELDER DISCIPLE will spawn. You will know you have activated it correctly as the chalice will glow red in the inside. Kill him and then we can move onto the next CHALICE location, he is not that difficult to kill with the RAYGUN MARK II P VARIANT.







  • Overlook - Upstairs in the GRAND FOYER area, there is a CHALICE in the middle of the broken banister section, directly facing the T-REX BONE'S STATUE. It is sitting on a bench up here which has a pool of blood on it.





  • Garden Pond - There is a CHALICE sitting on the STONE BENCH to the left hand side of the GOBBLEGUM MACHINE in this area. It is in front of a zombie spawn location and there is the warm glow of a flame in this alcove the bench sits it.






As you activate each CHALICE and kill the corresponding ELDER DISCIPLE, if you head back to the BANQUET HALL area after you do one, two or all three of these locations, you will see to the left of the ELEVATOR SHAFT on the wall, there will be a number now written.

Go directly behind the ELEVATOR SHAFT and on the wall behind it will be another number written on the wall. Then to the right hand side of the shaft, there is another number on the wall.






These numbers read from LEFT to RIGHT in that order. So make a note of the numbers that appear here in your game and we are going to use these numbers to crack open a SAFE in the WEST HALLWAYS area.

In the WEST HALLWAYS area next to the DEATH PERCEPTION PERK MACHINE, to the right of it, there is a SAFE sitting on the floor. Interact with this safe and input the numbers that you noted down from LEFT to RIGHT in the BANDQUET HALL area.







Once the safe is opened, it will reveal an ANTLER CARVING for you to pick up.

We can then head over to the BANQUET HALL PAINTING location and head into the portal that takes you to the LIMINIAL BANQUET HALL.

Find the PLINTH in the middle of the room as soon as you enter the LIMINIAL BANQUET HALL and place down the SENTINEL ARTFEACT on it.

This will then make the BOSS appear for this last mini lockdown, which comes in the form of an  ELDER DISCIPLE spawning in called YARLOPA. Simply rinse and repeat the process of how we destroyed the other 2 bosses during these mini lockdowns, by getting rid of his shield, shooting him in the head about 2 or 3 times until he is destroyed.






Once he has been destroyed, don't forget to pick up the SENTINEL ARTEFACT again from the PLINTH on the way out.

We are now ready to take on the head hauncho, the big cheese, the boss man, the......you get the idea.

Your Fired! Oh wait.....your the boss not me!
Before heading to the boss fight, do all the usual zombie things such as pack a punching every weapon you have to the max, upgrading your armour to the highest level, max out your lethals, tacticals, gobble gums etc before entering this fight, as it is a bit of a tough one.

When you are ready to activate the boss fight, we do this from the MAINFRAME CHAMBER area. 





When in this area, you will notice there is a computer either side of S.A.M. in the centre you can step onto a little platform from each side. Simply interact with one of these 2 computers to place the SENTINEL ARTEFACT down and it will teleport you into the FINAL BOSS.

Before you go in, a mini cut scene will play first and once it is over, you will then be in the RAVINE AREA with the boss called the Z-REX.....yes you guessed it.....zombies is what wiped the dinosaurs out millions of years ago!





Before going into the boss fight, having AETHER SHROUD equipped can get you out of some tight spaces and hairy situations if you get stuck or cornered in this area, as it makes you invincible basically from damage from zombies for brief period of time.

Also for stage 4 of this fight, having the CHOPPER GUNNER KILLSTREAK equipped can make sure you safely complete this Easter eggs last stage, while staying safe and out of harms way to guarantee success after the first 3 stages of this fight.

This boss fight is in 4 stages, so let's go through what happens in each stage so you know what your up against.

Stage 1 - ROUND 1.....FIGHT!
To get critical hits on the boss for this battle, we have to mainly shoot him in the EYES to get critical hits. There will be a time when he eats a toxic zombie that will create a larger critical hit spot on his stomach which I will describe below.

The Z-REX has 2 main types of attacks:

His first most dangerous attack is when you see him leap up into the air towards you and he tries to land on you. If this attack hits you full on, it is an instant down so always pay attention to the skies over head when you see or hear him leap. To avoid this attack, as he leaps up into the air quick run and slide in a direction away from where you were when he leapt into the air and most times, you should avoid this attack.



His second attack is on where he spews toxic liquid on the ground which emits gas, just like the TOXIC ZOMBIES that spawn in special rounds on this map. Watch out for the yellowy green circles it leaves behind, which can act like a minefield to avoid. If stepping on this it can drain your energy fairly quickly so as well as keeping an eye on the skies, also keep an eye on your footing and where you walk when he is firing the toxic liquid around.




A third thing to note, is that it is not an attack as such, but he will at times when chasing you around the map, EAT A TOXIC ZOMBIE. When he does this, it makes a GLOWING GREEN PATCH APPEAR on his STOMACH for a brief periods of time, allowing you to shoot his STOMACH FOR CRITICAL HITS, as well as his EYES at the same time. The green patch on his stomach is much larger than his eyes, and is easier to hit but only stays there for brief period.





When you have done enough damage to him in this first stage of the battle, he will leap out of the RAVINE and up onto the surrounding cliffs. He will then start spewing the toxic liquid and gas, raining down on you from above in this area. The good news is, if you shoot his eyes while he is up on top of the cliffs, you can get more critical hits for a brief period of time, before your shots register as immune.







Before he re-enters the RAVINE area again ant ground zero, for about 30-40 seconds, he will allow waves of zombies to come after you. After this time has passed, he will drop down again into the arena to try and finish what he started.

After each stage, he will become more aggressive and slightly faster with his attacks, however he just keeps repeating the same attacks really in each stage.

Stage 2 - You want a replay of round 1?
So basically stage 2 is exactly the same as stage 1, he will be a little bit faster but not by much. Simply repeat what you done in stage 1 until he is ready to make the one giant leap for dinosaur kind up onto the cliffs again.

Keep shooting his eyes and the occasional green spot that appear after he eats a toxic zombie.






You will notice when you damage him to a certain extent, before he jumps onto the cliffs, he will start LGOWING GREEN with cracks in his skin and his eyes will also glow green, probably with anger and rage as you whooping his butt.

He will then Jump up onto the cliff and that will be the end of phase 2.

Phase 3 - Third times a charm!
Okay so in this stage, things will get noticeably more aggressive from him in terms of his speed and attacking ability. He will also have a new ability now that he is glowing green and that ability is that he can SPAWN IN TOXIC ZOMBIES into the map.

You will notice him at times stop and bow down for a few seconds and TOXIC ZOMBIES will start to jump out of him.






Another thing to note on this stage is that as he is glowing green constantly, he doesn't need to eat a toxic zombie in order to get the GREEN GLOWING AREA ON HIS STOMACH to appear. 

This appears all the time and allows you to get loads of critical hits on his stomach, as well as his eyes. Sometimes the stomach will have a cool down period briefly where damage cannot be done to it, but this lasts only few seconds then it comes back and allows you to damage him again after a short wait on his stomach.

Make sure to always play the range game with this boss, if he catches up to you, he really can make you go down quickly with the combinations of his powerful charges and running into you, all while sat same time spewing the toxic gas on top of you is a deadly combination.






Once you damage him enough to get him down to nearly being destroyed, he will jump out of the arena for one final time.

Stage 4 - The end is near
In this last stage, he will not have gained any additional attacks or new abilities, but he will be extremely annoyed with you and will have increased his speed and aggressiveness two fold at this point so watch out.

We simply need to repeat the steps as before and keep training him around the map, at a slightly quicker pace and you can kill him by shooting the eyes and stomach as the previous stages, but if things do get a little hairy and your in trouble near the end, call in your CHOPPER GUNNER KILLSTREAK.







This means you can sit back and relax and destroy him from a distance or do huge amounts of damage that when you spawn back in the RAVINE area, you will only have to shoot him a few times to finish him off.

Once you destroy him, the ending cut scene will play and you will have successfully completed this Easter egg so.....a well done is in order.
