Hey guys,
here we are in our first post for the awesome new Call Of Duty Vanguard game, yay! I hope you are excited as me for the zombies that is included in this new game. Yes its a little different, but I guarantee if you stick with it, you will be pleasantly surprised at what the new style of zombies has to offer game play wise and how it progresses along the story line of zombies as a whole.
Below we have the map layout for the Fountain Square area, with the small section of Main Street you can partially stroll into without needing to remove any blockades. The Portals change their type every play through so they will appear in the same place but may be of a different type of objective E.g. Harvest portal one play through, next play through the same portal will be a Blitz type objective.

This zombie mode will feel a little different from previous incarnations. For example, now you cannot just walk up to a door and look it right in the face, flash the cash and it will gladly grant you access to your desired destination.
Now each area is protected by PORTALS which you will need to enter and complete an objective within to remove barriers blocking your path to different areas.
The different types of portals have different objectives, these portals can be of the type:
The Blitz portal takes in this area takes us to the Boiler Room area where we must fend off a large onslaught of countless zombies for a set period of time.
This can be quite easy in the lower rounds, but as the zombies become stronger and more difficult to kill, in later rounds it can be quite difficult as the areas it takes place in are usually quite cramped for space and narrow. So best to get these out of the way as soon as possible.
What makes it more difficult is that they are not just the bog standard zombies, you get a mix of explosive zombies in the form of zombies who deal lots of damage to zombies, and yourself, when they explode.
This can be particularly dangerous in these small confined areas as you are blocked by Purple forcefields from leaving these areas until the task has been completed. When you go back to the area once it has been unlocked, the purple forcefields will be gone and you can freely move through into those areas that were blocked.
You will also come across some of the maps newer zombies that like to go out with a bang called BOOM-SCHREIER ZOMBIE. When he dies he explodes and damages you, as well as his fellow zombie companions. Singling him out in a large crowd, and killing him, will give you a helping hand in keeping the zombie hordes thin as he is a danger to himself and his friends.
The Harvest Portal in this area will take you to the Excavation Room. When you enter a Harvest portal, a SIN EATER OBELISK will materialise in front of you.
Gabriel Krafft will mention at this stage that Kortifax's rune magic is leeching energy from your demons. Saraxis will then chip in and tell you that there is a SIN EATER OBELISK nearby which can help you take back their power. Kortifax will mention that you are using a Sin Eater and will be watching you closely.
All you need to do is fill up the Sin Eater at each location it moves to. You need to fill it up with Runestones, which you can get from simply killing zombies with Critical Kills that come in the form mainly of headshots. This will guarantee almost 99% of the time, that you will get a Runestone when the zombie perishes.
You can carry up to 5 Runestones at a time and deposit all of them at the same time, one by one, or two here and three there....its totally up to you. The more you have to deposit the longer it takes to place them inside the Sin Eater, so just keep your eyes peeled when depositing them from all sides as the zombies come from all angles.
When you fill up the bar for RUNESTONES DEPOSITED, the Sin Eater will disappear, then reappear in another location within the map, marked by a waypoint. Go to the next location and do the same thing again, then lastly, you guessed it, it will move to its final third location and we repeat the process one more time.
When the Sin Eater has gorged on enough Runestones, the objective will be completed, the Sin Eater will disappear into the Aether and you will be teleported back to the main map area after a short space of time.
When doing a TRANSMIT OBJECTIVE, a floating Aether Orb will appear, enclosing a zombies head inside a type of caged lattice structure. Once this appears, you need to escort it to its destination within the map. Its progress towards its final destination will be shown on the left hand side of the HUD, in the form of a progress bar that will fill up yellow, called "Traveled". The zombies will not attack the orb so you do not need to defend it, they will only be interested in you!
The orb is looking for a weak spot between the dimensions, as Gabriel Krafft will explain once you emerge into this areas Transmit Portal which will take you to the Apartments area, and Bellekar will want your assurance that it will get to its destination in order to call for help from friends in the DARK AETHER.
In order to move the orb along, you need to be extremely close to it within about a foot or two. As soon as it reaches its destination at the end all zombies will be destroyed instantly and you will be teleported back to the Fountain Square area.
Corrupted Rewards for closing Portals
Closing portals will also earn you a CORRUPTED HEART that can be used to upgrade your abilities at the Altar Of Covenants in Fountain Square. This is probably an altar I would not like to wake up in the middle of the night and see it sitting at the bottom of my bed, as I think I may never sleep again for as long as I live.
Basically these are like mini perks and abilities that can be added onto your character, or replaced by others if you feel one is not working for you, simply replace it with a different ability. The only thing here is that you can only have 3 of these activated at once at any time. As the rounds start to increase higher in number, you will find more covenants which have more rarer abilities than the bog standard ones you start off with when spawning into the game and they also become stronger as the rounds progress.
Below is some options for the initial 3 paths we start off with:
Perks with a twist....don't buy one, get one free....then buy one...no more free!
Dotted around the map are these fountains that you can drink from. Normally I would say to only drink water from a tap or bottled, but I think water that gives you the ability to move faster, increase your health or deal hugely excessive amounts of damage on the zombie heathen from one sip.......I say go for it!! Will deal with the consequences later!!
There are 5 fountain types around the map that are basically the PERKS of this game type:
Diabolical Damage - Boosts critical damage
Fiendish Fortitude - Increases health (Like the old favourite Juggernog)
Venomous Vigor - Boosts regeneration speed
Aethereal Haste - Boosts movement speed - Reminds be a bit of Stamin-up but with added zing
Demonic Frenzy - Boosts reload speed - Like the Speed Cola / Reload Perk
Treasure that's crystal clear
Around the map you will also find locations where Red Crystals appear, along with Chests, that contain loot, grenades, power ups such as max ammo etc to name but a few. Chests usually appear when you complete a Portal objective such as Harvest, Transmit or Blitz. Then when you go back to that area normally without going through another portal, its almost like it is rewarding you for clearing out this area.
The Chests we simply walk up to them and hold the USE button on them and they pop open like a packet of Pringles, no bother at all. Once you pop the first chest, you cannot stop, so you go in search of others looking for free loot here, there and everywhere like a treasure hunting pirate madman on the seven seas. When recently cleared out an area check all corners when walking around in case you miss one.
The Red Crystals are dotted around everywhere on the map randomly and all you need to do is shoot the crystal to shatter it into a million pieces, then it will reveal what lurks inside. Usually this is ammo, salvage, max ammo etc just little things to keep you ticking over in the game when in dire need of some help.
Get me the heck out of here! After round 5 of course
In this area in the central fountain of the Fountain Square area is a symbol that becomes active after round 5. This is your extraction, not in the form of a helicopter, but in portal form.
In order to get the portal to appear however, it asks you to kill a certain number of zombies in order to make it appear and rescue your butt.
In fact.....that is an Artefact....not fiction
Just like Cold War zombies, in your loadouts, you can have 1 of 4 extra abilities for your character in Der Anfang, depending on your tastes and how you play.
The 4 artefacts you can choose from are:
Thanks for reading as always guys.
