Now we have the 3 MINI GAMES completed from the TWINS in this map, there is one last step before we can get ready to enter the final boss fight on this map.

You got the time boss?

In the DESTROYED NUKE TOWN, there is a clock on top of the GREEN HOUSE ROOF with an HOUR hand and a SECONDS hand.

Shoot the two of these hands until they move up to the ZERO value on the CLOCK FACE.

Once they are both at zero, go over to the TEMPORAL CONDUIT and initiate the trip to the PAST.

When the sequence to teleport is ongoing you will see YELLOW FLUTTERS of energy around your HUD.

While this is happening, shoot the hands of the clock one more time.

If you have shot the clock successfully, then you will hear a success sound chime.

When this happens, a BLUE ORB spawns into the centre of the map and then travel to the PIANO, then move to the TOY CHEST, then to the FIREPLACE, then finally to the SWING.

Once the TWINS stop at the SWING in the PAST NUKE TOWN, in the YELLOW HOUSE'S BACKYARD, we can interact with them to start the boss fight!

The stage is set! The big boss man is in charge now!

The boss fight in Paradox Junction revolves around a central enemy known as the Dark Heart, and while it might seem overwhelming at first, it actually follows a very clear three-stage structure.

Each stage introduces a new mechanic, increases the intensity, and requires both awareness and positioning to be completed successfully.

Stage 1 - Spore Charging & Defence

The fight begins with the Dark Heart, which at this early stage, is completely immune to damage.

At this point, your focus shifts away from the boss and toward three spore/cist locations that appear around the map.

What You Need To Do

Your first task is to charge each spore by killing the zombies nearby. As you eliminate enemies within the spore’s radius, it absorbs their souls.

Once around 10 zombies have been destroyed near each spore, it will be fully charged.

At this point the spore will reveal an artefact and trigger a defence zone around it.

Inside this zone, you must prevent zombies from entering the circle. If too many get inside, your progress can stall or reset, forcing you to repeat the process.

There are 3 locations these SPORES/CISTS appear and need charged with 10 zombies souls each. The locations are:

  • TRINITY AVENUE

  • GREEN HOUSE BACKYARD

  • YELLOW HOUSE BACKYARD

Why This Stage Can Go Wrong

This phase sounds simple, but it often fails due to poor positioning. Players tend to chase zombies too far away from the cist/spore, slowing progress, or they stand too far back during defence, allowing enemies to slip into the zone.

The key is to stay close, control the flow, and avoid overextending.

If you fail this step, don't worry, it cam be restarted again almost immediately after it ends again.

Enemy Behaviour

  • Standard zombies with steady spawn rates
  • Increased pressure during defence sections
  • Occasional tougher enemies mixed in
  • Damage Phase

Once all three spores are filled with 10 zombie souls each and the object it was hiding is revealed and defended, this step will be completed and the Dark Heart then becomes vulnerable.

This will be because when you reveal the 3 items within the CISTS and successfully protected them, 3 BLUE ORBS will fly out towards the boss and smash into it, making holes in its armour for you to shoot at. These will be the weak points glowing yellowy orange.

When the cracks and glowing weak points appear, this will be your chance to deal some heavy damage to the heart, by shooting the glowing spots on it and bring its health meter down as much as you can, before it becomes immune again.

Be ready to dodge incoming hazards like fire and falling projectiles while focusing your shots. After enough damage is dealt to the DARK HEART, 2 of the glowing spots will blow up and then the heart will go back into being immune from attacks.

There will also be FIRE ZOMBIES mixed in with the normal zombies at this point, to make it a bit more interesting.

When you do enough damage, the heart will become IMMUNE again and this is when the fight transitions into Stage 2.

Before Stage 2, you will be awarded with a MAX ARMOR and a MAX AMMO powerup for your troubles.

Stage 2 - Orb Destruction & Défense

Stage 2 follows a similar structure, but swaps out the spore/cist mechanic for YELLOW FLOATING ENERGY ORBS instead, making this phase more fast-paced and aim-dependent part of the battle.

What You Need To Do

Instead of charging spores, you must now locate and destroy a set of floating orbs scattered around the map, which have come from the large black meteor style projectiles the heart throws out at the start of each stage.

These can move slightly and are often positioned in awkward spots, so accuracy matters.

Here you simply need to find the mound of black stuff on the ground, shoot the YELLOW ORB above it and it will start to spit out enemies, who have a GOLDEN STRING attached to them, leading back every time to the YELLOW ORB.

All you have to do for all 3 mounds (which are in the exact same locations as the items in stage 1) and orb locations is shoot the orb, kill the zombies attached by strings to it, guard the object when the twins appear and create a blue circle around it and once completed, simply move onto the next one.

This needs done a total of 3 times, same as the previous step.

Be careful though, while defending these items, the HEART can now use a FIREBALL attack while your defending the items, which it did not do in STAGE 1.

Once all orbs are destroyed you’ll once again trigger a defence phase, similar to Stage 1, for each of the items.

When all 3 items are protected and revealed, the heart will become vulnerable to attack again.

Shoot the golden yellow weak points until 2 explode and then it will move you onto Phase 3.

Before Stage 3, you will be awarded again with a MAX ARMOR and a MAX AMMO powerup.

Why This Stage Feels Harder

The difficulty here comes from multitasking. You’re no longer just managing zombie positioning  you’re also tracking and shooting targets while under pressure and keeping your situational awareness on point for incoming fireballs and zombies behind, to the side and in front.

Players often

  • Miss orbs due to panic aiming
  • Get overwhelmed by zombies while focusing on targets
  • Lose awareness of their surroundings

Take your time, clear space before shooting, and prioritize survival over speed.

Enemy Behaviour

  • Faster, more aggressive zombie spawns
  • Increased pressure while aiming at orbs
  • Continued mix of special enemies
  • Damage Phase

After completing the orb and defence sequence, the Dark Heart opens again. This damage window is similar to Stage 1 but slightly more chaotic.

Deal as much damage as possible and when you blow up 2 out of the 3 weak spots of the heart, it will close up one more time and become immune, before the final phase begins.

Stage 3 - Tornado Zombies & Escort Mechanic

This is the most complex and commonly failed stage of the fight. New environmental hazards appear, and the core mechanic changes entirely.

What You Need To Do

Fire tornadoes will spawn around the map, each containing a special zombie, the TORTURED ZOMBIE. These are not meant to be killed immediately.

They will spawn mainly in the middle area of the map.

Instead, your goal is to:

  • Wait for the zombie to emerge from the tornado
  • Guide (or “escort”) that zombie to a designated spore location
  • Destroy any zombies it attaches to, to stop its health deteriorating and avoid being destroyed before reaching its destination
  • Kill it only when it reaches the correct area and attaches to the item your going to defend

Doing this correctly will trigger the final defence phase for all 3 spore/item locations.

You will notice that the TORTURED ZOMBIE will have GOLDEN STRINGS attaching itself to other zombies, when this happens, you must destroy the zombies it is attached to, but not the fire zombie itself.

This is because when it attaches to zombies, it brings its own health meter down.

If the health meter reaches zero and the fire zombie is killed, it is okay, this counts as a fail, but simply wait another 30 seconds or so, and you can reattempt to do it again when a new one spawns in.

All you have to do is lure a fire zombie to the same location for each of the items you had defended previously.

Do not shoot this zombie yet, we need to wait until he gets to where our items are located, at the 3 spores locations.

When he gets close to a spore, you will notice he will actually attach himself to it with a GOLDEN STRING. Once he is attached to the spore, kill him and it will open up the spore revealing the item.

Then the same again, wait for the TWINS to enter the blue circle around the items and it will start the defence phase of the item.

Defend it and once completed, move onto the other 2 items and complete those also in the same manner.

This will then open up the DARK HEART and its weak points to finally destroy it in the last damage sequence.

The Most Common Mistake

This is where most players fail, is killing the tornado zombie in the wrong place does not count.

There is no progress unless the zombie is eliminated at the correct location. Panic killing or losing control of the zombie’s path will force you to repeat the process.

Why This Stage Is Difficult

  • You’re managing multiple threats at once
  • Constant zombie pressure
  • Moving tornado hazards
  • A specific target that must be controlled, not rushed

Positioning becomes critical. You need space to move, awareness of where the spore is, and patience to guide the zombie safely.

Enemy Behaviour

  • High-volume zombie spawns
  • Special “tornado zombies” tied to the mechanic
  • Environmental hazards actively chasing or blocking you
  • Shock Mimics spawn in also which can be quite tough

Final Damage Phase

After successfully completing the escort and defence steps, the Dark Heart opens one last time.

This is your final window of opportunity to take it out. Unload everything you have. Focus on weak points, use equipment, and commit fully to damage.

Once its health is depleted, the boss fight ends.

You will have now successfully completed the PARADOX JUNCTION EASTER EGG!

Thanks for reading as always.
