Operation Deadbolt Doghouses and Spawning Friendly Hellhounds - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Hi guys,

In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, the Zombies mode introduces an intriguing feature where you can forge a connection with a Hellhound who has various names around the map like Archie, Biscuit, Flouncy etc. The details are quite straightforward to obtain this friendly pooch.

As you traverse the map, your hellhound faithfully accompanies you, functioning much like a Brain Rot-afflicted Zombie but with a permanent presence. Particularly noteworthy is the hellhound's near-invulnerability when in the Low Threat Zones, making it practically an indestructible ally. This proves especially advantageous for solo players, although it adds value even when part of a full team.

An interesting aspect is that the hellhound doesn't stop assisting you even when you drive away into the sunset. Simply find a suitable spot to park away from the dog and you'll soon spot your loyal, faithful doggy, in the distance, rushing over to lend a helping paw.

Although the hellhound may come off as a little "ruff" around the edges, it is "barking" mad to take on the zombie menace head on, it has a bone to pick with these zombies and it will not paws for a second until you are safe, exfil or itself is destroyed. The hellhound will definitely be telling their tails of his adventures with you to his kids....some great dog puns in there.

When you get the hellhound freed from its doghouse, you can also get an achievement for PETTING A HELLHOUND in whatever platform you are playing on.

Here is how we get a friendly hellhound out of the dog house and on our side...

Doghouse Locations

To get the hellhound to come out and play, all you have to do is locate a doghouse and present it with a tasty offering.

To achieve this, you'll require a Chunk of Flesh. Once you have obtained a Chunk of Flesh, proceed to the closest doghouse, crouch down and place the Chunk of Flesh inside.

Once you place the meat inside, the hellhound will emerge from the doghouse and promptly engage any nearby Zombies. This proves beneficial as the hellhound serves as an indicator of Zombie presence in the vicinity, helping you determine whether the area is safe enough to consult your map and inventory at a particular point.

Some people in the game seem to think the game is paused when they are in the mini map or inventory and get knocked down so many times in a round without paying attention to their surroundings, while trying to organise the next mission or their items.

To find DOGHOUSES on the mini map, you need to get within a certain proximity at times to them, for it to show up on your radar and mini map. When close enough, usually found by just driving around the map in random directions and locations, you will notice a DOG KENNEL SYMBOL WITH A DOGSHEAD inside it on the map. This is a DOGHOUSE LOCATION.

MAP FOR ALL DOGHOUSE LOCATIONS in Urzikstan that has been found so far.

Where do we find a chunk of flesh in Operation Deadbolt?

I am glad you asked the question.....even though it was myself asking....myself....technically. It is actually a completely random drop and usually happens when killing a larger group of zombies more frequently. It does happen the odd time when smaller groups of zombies are killed, but when taking down large amounts at a time, you will find it slightly more common.

When you kill a zombie, it will drop the CHUNK OF FLESH and it appears as a BLUE ITEM for you to pick up for your inventory.

As it is a random drop, you want to up the chances of getting the CHUNK OF FLESH with the more zombies you take out and as quickly as possible. One easy way of doing this, is to go to an EXFIL location on the map, call of the helicopter to come in and pick you up. This will spawn loads more zombies as they await the helicopters arrival and try to stop you leaving.

Simply kill as many zombies as you can and you will find. more than likely, there will be a CHUNK OF FLESH in between all the carnage that was going on. Of course, do not get on the chopper just yet, as we haven't summoned the hellhound yet  and....that's what we are here for.

Did you feed the dog today?

Now we have the CHUNK OF FLESH, and our DOGHOUSE LOCATION, we can now head over to the doghouse and offer up the pieces of flesh to the dog by interacting with the doghouse. Some people say offering 1 chunk of flesh is enough to get the dog to spawn, some say that offering up 2 chunks every time is guaranteed to get it to spawn.

If after giving it 1 chunk of flesh and it does not spawn, don't fret, simply go and get another piece of flesh and feed it to the same doghouse when it becomes available to you.

Some hellhounds, who spawn, won't let you pet them and some players think it is to do with the dog names that they are assigned randomly to each one that spawns. I have played the game a lot of times and done the dog spawn several times and both times I got FLOUNCY as the dogs name and it allowed me to PET THE HELLHOUND both times.

When the dog has spawned and it will let you pet it, other players in your team can also get the PET A HELLHOUND achievement or trophy straight away with the same dog.

If you get into a vehicle and drive off, or jump off a really tall structure and deploy the parachute for example, the dog may disappear but then reappear later on by climbing out of the ground.

Superdog to the Rescue!

One other neat trick from getting this hellhound on your side is that he is able to revive you when you go down. This is something that can be of some relief as playing quite a lot of zombies games, lots of players leave you behind when you go down. Maybe they are short no ammo, about to go down themselves....however most of the time I find.....the 2 other members of my team know each other and work together very closely and look out for each other. As I am the odd one out of the bunch, that means if I go down, it's my own fault and I gotta look after myself.

Yes, the game can be harsh at times, but that's why having a SELF REVIVE kit can always save you now and again, even when some other team members don't really want you in their team.

If some team members are too lazy to come and get you but are not a huge distance away, activating the field upgrade HEALING AURA will automatically revive any downed team mates within a certain vicinity.

Thanks for reading as always guys.
