Hi guys,
In the chaotic and relentless world of Modern Warfare 3 Operation Deadbolt Zombies, survival is not just about skilful shooting and strategic manoeuvring around zombie hordes, it's also about enhancing your arsenal to face the ever-growing undead horde. The horde grow stronger, faster and pack more of a punch the high the threat zone you enter.
Your standard weapons will work okay in a LOW THREAT ZONE, however when we start to move into the MEDIUM and HIGH THREAT ZONES, we need something that packs a little more punch....hmmm just realised that's where Pack-a-Punch probably got it's name from, learn something new everyday.
The key to unlocking the true potential of your weapons lies in the mysterious and powerful Pack-a-Punch machine. Let's dive into the mechanics of this crucial element and explore the dynamic challenges it presents in different threat zones.
Below is a screenshot from the interactive map made on the website https://wzhub.gg/ which allows you to bring up the overall tactical map of Urzikstan, then on the left hand side of the screen, filter down through showing only individual features on the map which is absolutely awesome.
All Pack-a-Punch locations are shown below when filtering everything else out from the website WZHUB.GG tactical map:
I'm not associated with this website in any way and I'm simply using their screenshot as a reference. The map is crafted by the individuals behind this site, not by me. It appears to be consistently updated whenever a new feature spawn location is discovered, which is immensely helpful given the impressive level of detail.
Understanding the Pack-a-Punch
The Pack-a-Punch machine serves as the gateway to weapon empowerment, transforming your firearms into devastating instruments of destruction. To access this upgrade, players must locate a Pack-a-Punch machine on the map and invest their hard-earned points into the process.
However, unlike in previous version of zombies, you cannot just gather up points and keep upgrading your weapons at the same Pack-a-Punch machine.
Threat Zones no in Play and Cost Variations
Modern Warfare 3 Zombies introduces a layered approach to Pack-a-Punch upgrades, categorizing the map into three distinct threat zones: Low Threat, Medium Threat, and High Threat. Each zone comes with its own set of challenges and an escalating price tag for Pack-a-Punch enhancements.
- Low Threat Zone (Cost: 5000 Points)
In the initial stages of the game, the undead menace is more manageable and so is the cost of Pack-a-Punching your weapons. The entry-level upgrade comes at a relatively modest price of 5000 points.
- Medium Threat Zone (Cost: 10,000 Points)
As the zombie onslaught intensifies, so does the difficulty level. In the Medium Threat Zone, players must shell out 10,000 points to further enhance their weapons. The stakes are higher, but so is the firepower.
- High Threat Zone (Cost: 15,000 Points)
The apex of danger and challenge lies in the High Threat Zone. Here, players face the most formidable undead adversaries, and unlocking the full potential of your arsenal comes at a hefty cost of 15,000 points.
Navigating Upgrades Across Threat Zones
One intriguing twist to the Pack-a-Punch system is the restriction on upgrading your weapons in the same threat zone where you previously enhanced them. For example, if you Pack-a-Punch your guns in the Low Threat Zone, you must venture into either the Medium or High Threat Zones for subsequent upgrades.
Money-Making Strategies
Accumulating the necessary points for Pack-a-Punch upgrades requires resourcefulness and adaptability.
Players can explore various avenues to amass points, including:
- Collecting and Selling Loot at Buy Stations: Hunt for valuable items and exchange them for points.
- Aether Nests: Explore the map for essence containers in Aether Nests, providing a valuable source of points.
- Cash Registers in Shops: Raid shops for essence, adding to your point pool.
- Zombie Kills and Boss Battles: Dispatch undead foes and conquer formidable bosses for substantial point rewards.
- Aether Raid Boxes: Seek out large Aether raid boxes for high-quality loot and points.
- Harvester Orbs: Shoot harvester orbs to obtain vials of aether, a currency essential for upgrades.
- Completing Contracts: Take on contracts scattered across the map for additional point bonuses.
- Weapon Stashes and Mercenary Strongholds: Raid these locations for points and valuable loot.
Mastering the intricacies of the Pack-a-Punch system is crucial for survival. Navigating the threat zones, managing your resources wisely and choosing the right moments to upgrade are key elements in your battle against the undead horde.
If you are about to EXFIL from the map, do not waste money in upgrading your guns to Pack-a-Punch, as they will not carry through to the next round and you will only have the same basic weapon either insured or contraband weapon being brought back out again for use in the next play through. Keeping the money will translate into XP for your rewards at the end of a successful exfil.
So, gear up, venture into the unknown, and unlock the true potential of your weaponry with the Pack-a-Punch machine. The survival of the fittest has never been more electrifying!
Thanks for reading as always.
