Operation Deadbolt Map Layout - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Welcome back zombie fans!

Finally the day has come where Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has arrived and along with it, the return of a new type of zombies game mode. This new game mode is like an open world version of the warzone map, along with a few new additions which veteran zombies players will hopefully like.

The zombies mode now features up to 24 players in the map at anyone time, who can choose to help each other and team up, go lone wolf solo style on their own or be part of a 3 man squad taking on the undead hordes. It makes a more tactical experience and having the extra players there, whether you like it or not, can quite often save your bacon, as they help clear the zombie hordes on their each own individual exploration through the map.

Already I have been saved by total strangers out of the blue on the map several times without asking them, which encourages co-operative play with other human players so well.

It definitely opens up more playability and replay value, as each play through will yield different rewards and weapons that can be salvaged and used later on in subsequent play through to push through from the beginner stages of the map to the centre of the map where the difficulty is more hardcore and you will need an edge right from the get go in weaponry, armour, perks and tactics.

Map layouts for each of the areas

The map is not like the previous round based zombie maps, which have small areas clearly marked out with set boundaries, its like a giant playground that has been opened up for you to explore at your leisure, letting you do what you want, when you want and how you want on each play through....wow that was a lot of words starting with the letter W my tongue has gone all wibbly wobbly now.

Here is the overall map layout for the entire map at the maximum zoomed out level:

Operation Deadbolt's map is set in Urzikstan and is divided up into the following areas:

  • Shahin Manor
  • Orlov Military Base
  • Hadiqa Farms
  • Seaport District
  • Levin Resort
  • Popov Power
  • Urzikstan Cargo
  • Zaravian City
  • Zaravian Suburbs
  • Low Town
  • Old Town

Each of the areas also fall into an area of difficulty that is denoted on the map, or overlap into other areas of differentiating difficulty. This means you need to be careful and pay attention to the map when walking around aimlessly, as you may think your weapons and equipment can deal with zombies in LOW THREAT DIFFICULTY ZONES, but you may have inadvertently stumbled into an area of higher difficulty without realising....then that's when it can sometimes be time to test those new running shoes you have just bought and need to leg it.

Exploring the Safe Havens - Low Threat Zones - What Zombie Apocalypse?

Dive into the more relaxed side of MWZ where danger takes a backseat. Low Threat areas are havens with sparse zombie presence, making these areas ideal for leisurely exploration. Just try to watch your back now and again as even though the zombies are easy to kill here, you sometimes can be jumped by a large zombie horde that has been gathering if you stay in the area for quite some time and not killed any zombies.

This means even thought the zombies hold back on their punching and biting power in these areas, when there is 10 or 20 biting you at the same time, the damage really can rack up fast if you are not careful and you could be hitting the deck sooner than you think.

Whether flying solo or with a group, these zones offer a laid-back experience, requiring minimal coordination. Feel free to use them as a playground for a mild XP boost or to accomplish objectives effortlessly. Just keep in mind, the loot you'll find here is more on the basic side. These areas are easily distinguishable by their lack of colour coding on the main map. Low Threat zones dominate the majority of MWZ's Operation Deadbolt.

Navigating the Norm - Medium Threat Zones - Their turning the heat up a little

If you're up for a challenge without diving into the deep end head first, Medium Threat zones are the sweet spot. Expect a standard gaming experience with a moderate level of danger.

Here, zombies pack more punch...literally if they hit you, it will feel like an upper cut from a professional boxer so watch out, it will definitely break your armour easily, demanding you pay close attention to your surroundings for survival.

Group play is recommended for a consistently good time, while solo play may pose a questionable venture due to increased zombie power and numbers. The loot is moderately valuable, adding an extra layer of excitement. These zones, coloured in orange, form the outer middle of MWZ.

Confronting the Apex - The Pinnacle of Danger in MWZ - High Threat Zones....are you nuts!?

Prepare for the ultimate test in High Threat zones, the most perilous areas MWZ has to offer. Inhabited by the deadliest zombies, solo play is strongly discouraged, unless you crave a real, and likely fatal, challenge.

Group play is not just recommended but strongly advised and I will keep advising you till I am blue in the face, or until you get a sore head and just give into it, for any shot at progression within this danger zone. To conquer these zones, you and your team must geared up, armed to the teeth and impeccably coordinated.

The risk, however, brings great rewards as the best loot in MWZ awaits those who brave the red-coloured High Threat zones. Positioned at the heart of MWZ, these zones demand the utmost skill and strategy.

Map layouts of each area

As the map is absolutely huge and has so many different spawn points, mission locations, contracts, loot locations etc. it would take an absolute age to draw every single part of each area out. This time around, I have decided to take some satellite imagery from the main games overall map and zoom in as best as I can to each area to help reveal what exactly is available in a given location.

Weapons available for purchase on walls, ammunition caches and gas stations maintain consistent spawn points that remain unchanged throughout each game of Zombies. However, everything else lacks fixed locations across different matches.

Although icons such as Exfils have a predetermined number of potential spawn locations, these locations will vary from game to game.

Likewise, Perk Machines and Contracts adhere to set positions across the map, yet the specific type of Perk Machine or Contract encountered at a given location will differ in each match.

Thanks for reading as always guys.
