Operation Deadbolt Wonder Weapons Guide - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Hi guys,

Let's dive into the thrilling arsenal of fan-favourite Wonder Weapons in MW3 Zombies, featuring two iconic classics and a newcomer to the ring, known as the Scorcher. For those of you who don't know, wonder weapons are powerful and unique firearms or equipment with extraordinary capabilities.

Ray Gun
Unleash the power of the timeless Ray Gun, a staple in the world of MW3 Zombies. This energy weapon delivers devastating shots with a futuristic flair, making it a fan favourite for its iconic design and unparalleled firepower.

Ways of Obtaining the Ray Gun
If your a gambler, then one of the easiest and most luckiest ways you will obtain a RAY GUN, is by spending some of your hard earned cash on the MYSTERY BOXES dotted around the map. These boxes tease you with a glimpse of the RAY GUN now and again but the chances of getting it are slim. The longer you play the game and play through the  current round, the higher the chance there is of getting one of the 3 wonder weapons.

You can also obtain it from crafting through Schematic Crafting Plans or through Reward Rifts in High Threat Zones.

Another approach is to undertake a Legacy Fortress, which significantly increases your likelihood of acquiring a Wonder Weapon. Upon successfully finishing the Legacy Fortress, explore both the safe and the Reward Rift for opportunities to secure a Wonder Weapon drop.

Free Ray Gun - Ray Guns for all Mankind...man that's crafty!
The good news is in Operation Deadbolt, the RAY GUN is actually craftable, meaning that we can technically have an infinite number of Ray Guns at our disposal, with cool down times on the schematics of course after each use.

In order to do this however, we will need to get our hands on the schematics first.

Let's find out what one of the best strategies is to getting this awesome piece of firepower.

So first, we will need to complete around 2 to 3 missions in the LOW THREAT zone first to get going on this quest. This is to save up 5000 points in order to buy a WALL BUY WEAPON from the HIGH THREAT ZONE which is of LEGENDARY RARITY.

Why do we need this weapon? It's because it is instantly more powerful a gun bought from the wall in this zone than even a Pack-a-Punched weapon which has been upgraded in the LOW THREAT ZONE. These HIGH THREAT ZONE WALL BUY WEAPONS pack some serious punch, without being Pack-a-Punched and make the rest of the game so much easier.

When they are Pack-a-Punched in LOW THREAT zones after purchase, then in the MEDIUM THREAT ZONE Pack-a-Punch machines, you will find that the weapon pretty much insta-kills zombies that are in the LOW THREAT zones. Learn about Fast Pack-a-Punch and cheaper in my guide

Now you have the LEGENDARY WALL GUN BUY, if you have an AETHER CRYSTAL, you can instantly use it on this gun as well to give another boost to the Pack-a-Punch level of this weapon.

If you have a LEGENDARY AETHER TOOL right from the start of the game and you have used it on your weapon already to Pack-a-Punch it, then you do not need to do the wall buy steps and can continue from this point onwards.

Next you should now use this amazing weapon you have to do some more missions and get some more money so that you can Pack-a-Punch the weapon again to get it to at least tier 2 or 3 whatever takes your fancy.

Next, we need to either PURCHASE A SENTRY GUN, or find one around the map, and find any CIRCUIT BOARDS TO USE IN THE DEADBOLT TURRETS around the map. Both of these will become extremely useful tools when you are in the TIER 3 zone doing some of the contracts, trust me, you will never leave home without these things again.

These turrets and guns shred zombies to pieces or grinds their health done in a hail of bullets, making them easier to kill with sometimes just a final shot needed to wipe them out.

Set the automated turrets down in places where a contract is taking place to hold back zombie hordes from attacking you and helping you to take care of the contract you are currently on, such as an ELIMINATE BOUNTY contract it will also shoot at.

Inserting the CIRCUIT BOARDS into the various DEADBOLT TURRETS will also give you some much needed fire power as well in what you are doing. Try to work in an area where a DEADBOLT TURRET is in the vicinity to cover your six.

The reason we need all this additional cover is because we will be doing CONTRACTS in the HIGH THREAT zone which can be really tough if you are under-equipped, unprepared and downright nuts to go in to these zones without some serious firepower, armour and backup.

All you need to do is keep choosing contracts in TIER 3 HIGH THREAT ZONE, complete the contracts and then check the REWARD RIFT at the end of each mission to see if it contains the RAY GUN SCHEMATIC PLANS.

All members of the team can pick up this reward. It is not a one person reward, its foreveryone.

When you do eventually find this, you will want to find the nearest EXFIL and get out of there so you will be home in time for supper.

Then you will do the same as the WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 below, simply go into the crafting menu's and craft the RAY GUN WEAPON CASE and equip it into your loadout. Then when the game starts, simply open the golden weapon case and it will be consumed, revealed the RAY GUN for you to use at your leisure.

You can of course create more ray guns after the cool down period has reset for future games and use it as many times as you like once you obtain it.

Wunderwaffe DG-2
The Wunderwaffe DG-2 makes a triumphant return, captivating players with its electrifying prowess. Known for its chain lightning effect, this Wonder Weapon is a must-have for those who seek to decimate hordes of undead with a single electrifying blast.

Free Wunderwaffe DG-2 - Wunderwaffe's for all Mankind! No they are not waffle makers!
Even more news, as if the ray gun wasn't good enough, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 is also craftable, meaning that we can technically have an infinite number of Wunderwaffe DG-2 as well. The usual cooldown that applies to all schematics will also apply here.

In order to get the Wunderwaffe in an unlimited supply is to start by making your way through each of the maps missions. You want to get to ACT 3 TIER 4 missions which is a HOLDOUT mission and requires you to:

  • Complete an OUTLAST contract
  • Kill 50 zombies inside the CORRUPTED SPACE
  • Exfil with the Wunderwaffe DG-2 plans
When you get onto this act and its mission tier, look for an OUTLAST CONTRACT on the map which is denoted by the SATELLITE DISH symbol on the map:

When you activate the contract and the PND device, you will be attacked by hordes of zombies as you have created a corrupted Aether space within that area. All you need to do is simply keep killing the zombie onslaught until the "Analysis Progress" on the left hand side of the screen reaches 100%.

As the mission mentioned you need to get 50 zombie kills on one of these contracts, if you only get around 45 say for example in a single OUTLAST mission, don't worry, as you can simply find another OUTLAST mission and get the last 5 kills on the next OUTLAST mission if needed.

Simply finish the OUTLAST contract and then when the REWARD RIFT appears, go over to it and you should find a reward for the "Wunderwaffe DG-2 Plans". Make sure it is the plans and not the acquisition of the Wunderwaffe DG-2.

If you look at the plans in your inventory, it will mention you need to perform a successful exfil in order to craft this acquisition for future deployments.

Now all you need to do is get to an EXFIL LOCATION and get the heck outta there!

Now all you need to do is go to the CRAFTING section in the zombies menu and select the WUNDERWAFFE DG2 plans to craft and start crafting as many as you like, after each cool down period has reset for the crafting time.

Then when you take the weapon case into the game, look in your inventory and EQUIP the WUNDERWAFFE DG-2. This will consume the weapon case you are carrying and give you the legendary weapon for use at your discretion.

The WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 can be obtained in the same various ways as the RAY GUN mentioned previously.

Scorcher
  • SEASON 1 UPDATE FOR SCORCHER: When a player reaches the maximum charge in low ammo situations, The Scorcher's launch ability will automatically activate.

Introducing the Scorcher, a recently introduced Wonder Weapon in the realm of Zombies. Emitting a distinctive red laser-like beam, this weapon allows you to shoot at the ground, propelling yourself into the air and enhancing your mobility.

Obtaining the Scorcher - Too Hot to Handle!
There are a few ways we can get our hands on this weapon of immense power. Let's take a look at one way, which is COMPLETING THE LEGACY FORTRESS on the map. In order to do this, we need to:

  • Search for a MERCENARY CAMP on the map. Go to this location and wipe out all mercenaries at this location. Then search the camp until you find their stash of cash and loot, where you will find a MERCENARY STRONGHOLD KEYCARD mixed along with all the goodies. If you do not want to take on a mercenary camp, simply go to the MEDIUM THREAT zone and to a BUY STATION where you can trade 2000 points for a stronghold key card

  • Take the MERCENARY STRONGHOLD KEYCARD to a MERCENARY STRONGHOLD dotted around the map. When you get to the stronghold, clear out all human enemies, some which will be pretty tough and be armoured, and secure the entire building. Once all hostile human's have been taken care of, search the building for a safe and start drilling into it to break it open. As usual, when you start drilling the safe, a progress indicator will appear and you will have to fend off several waves of enemies until the safe is cracked open. When this stronghold safe is opened, you will find the LEGACY FORTRESS KEYCARD

  • You then want to take this LEGACY FORTRESS KEYCARD over to the fortress near the top left hand side of the map, which is possibly one of the most dangerous places in Operation Deadbolt, aside from being in the HIGH THREAT ZONE. When at the legacy fortress, you will want to try to make your way into the middle of it and you will find a building that you can use the LEGACY FORTRESS KEYCARD on to unlock and allow you to enter. Inside you will need to clear 2 floors of enemies. The ground floor will have lots of boobie traps so keep your eyes peeled and watch your footing. Try to avoid throwing smoke grenades in here or things will get begin to get very hairy indeed. There will also be a lot of inflatable decoys that flash bang you when you shoot them. When you enter into this building the soldiers outside will also start piling in too. When you get to the second floor watch out for wires you will need to defuse along the way, as well as more decoys and enemies charging at you. There will also be trophy systems disabling you from throwing grenades into rooms on the top floor, as that is where the LEGACY BOSS is in the back room of the second floor. Once he has been killed, you will get a REWARD RIFT spawning which has the chance of rewarding you with the SCORCHER WONDER WEAPON.

The only down side really with the LEGACY FORTRESS is this can only be done once per game. This gives you the gun instantly to use, which means when you EXFIL, you will not be able to use it again as it is not stored permanently. To get it available for crafting and be able to use it all the time, there is another method we can use to acquire the SCORCHER PLANS, which means we can craft it anytime we want, albeit that it is not still within its usage cooldown period.

To get the SCORCHER WEAPON CASE, we need to go to the HIGH THREAT ZONE and just keep completing mission and getting reward rifts as we go. This will not give you the weapon itself to use instantly, but will give you the SCORCHER WEAPON CASE which can means you can use it immediately or on your next play through of you exfil with it successfully.

Unfortunately there currently are no SCORCHER CRAFTING PLANS at present to craft this weapon and and when you please. In the early access of MW3 you could actually craft this, so it might be included in some later DLC or seasons, but for now, it looks like it cannot be crafted just yet....sorry.

The SCORCHER NEVER RUNS OUT OF BULLETS as it charges itself again when stowed away very slowly or you can do it yourself. It fires a laser beam that cuts through zombies and stays in the area you fired it in for a few seconds and any zombies running into the beam will be mince meat.

It also has a traversal tactical advantage to it that no other weapon has and that is it throws the user up into the air allowing them to deploy their parachute if they ever get stuck in a jam and need a quick way to escape the area.

This is extremely useful to get you around higher tier zones safely without being bitten and slapped by zombies left, right and centre.

Operation Deadbolt Field Upgrades and their Advantages - Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Maps: Main Map Layouts -- Portals -- Doghouses -- Pack-a-Punch -- Aether Tears -- Blood Burner Aether Motorbike -- Exfil Locations -- Buy Stations -- Aether Zones -- Gas Stations -- Mystery Box Locations --

Hi guys,

Let's dive headfirst into the arsenal of field upgrades that make every undead encounter a mix of chaos, strategy, and a dash of virtual mayhem within Operation Deadbolt in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies.

We have 6 Field upgrades in total, here is a quick summary before we delve into more detail on each:

  • First up is the Energy Mine – it's the Michael Bay explosion you never knew you needed, unleashing massive damage with a cinematic flair.
  • Then, there's the Frenzied Guard, your knight in digital armour, repairing your defences while turning you into a temporary zombie magnet.
  • Feeling a bit frosty? Enter Frost Blast, a field upgrade that not only deals damage but also slows down the undead onslaught.
  • Don't underestimate the Healing Aura – a burst of collective health to keep your squad in the game and revive any downed team mates within a certain range.
  • Then we have the Aether Shroud, turning you invisible for those moments when you need to pull a Houdini on the zombie horde.
  • Let's not forget the Tesla Storm, the grand finale that's like Thor hosting a lightning party for you and your squad. Buckle up, gamers – it's about to get electrifying!

Energy Mine - MEDIUM RECHARGE RATE

Unleash the power of the Energy Mine field upgrade in MW3 - it packs more punch than a can of Monster! Instantly available, this explosive offers crowd control with its massive damage. While not mind-blowing initially, its first explosion makes it a reliable choice until you unlock more advanced Field Upgrades.

Frenzied Guard - SLOW RECHARGE RATE

Frenzied Guard is a field upgrade designed for a more defensive playstyle. Upon activation, it not only restores your armour to full but also compels all nearby enemies to focus their attention on you for a duration of 10 seconds. The unique twist lies in the fact that enemy kills during this period contribute to repairing your armour.

Unlocked at level 9, Frenzied Guard offers a strategic option for those seeking both protection and a diversionary tactic. However, personal preferences may vary. While it remains a solid choice, some players, including myself, find alternative defensive strategies more appealing. With a plethora of Armor Plates scattered across the map, and considering the availability of more potent offensive upgrades, Frenzied Guard may not top the list, but it remains a dependable tool in the arsenal of MW3 Zombies enthusiasts.

Healing Aura - SLOW RECHARGE RATE

Healing Aura is a formidable field upgrade designed to be a game-changer. Unlocked at level 19, this ability offers instantaneous, widespread healing for all players. It's not just a simple patch-up; it's a revitalizing burst that can turn the tide in the most dire situations.

When your squad is in a tight spot, unleash the Healing Aura to provide a rejuvenating wave of health, effectively staunching the bleeding and turning the tables in your favour. In the realm of defensive selections, the Healing Aura emerges as a standout choice, demonstrating its prowess in strategic and intense moments.

One property of it that makes it a major field upgrade is that if your within a certain distance of a downed team mate, activating it will instantly revive them and bring them to their feet. Great if you and your team mate are stuck in a pickle of a situation and neither can get to one another for help.

Frost Blast MEDIUM RECHARGE RATE

Frost Blast is a field upgrade which is meticulously crafted for pivotal moments. Unveiling its potential at level 29, this is extremely useful especially in objective-based scenarios and tight situations. The initial blast not only inflicts damage upon enemies but also exerts a slowing effect on those who enter its icy radius.

Picture this: you find yourself in a "defend the objective" predicament, and Frost Blast emerges as the ultimate ally. The immediate blast serves as a powerful deterrent, but the true genius lies in its ability to decelerate subsequent threats. This not only provides a tactical advantage but also affords you precious time to fortify defences, replenish supplies or dispatch zombies at your own pace.

In the arsenal of field upgrades, Frost Blast stands out as a strategic asset, showcasing its versatility and effectiveness when the stakes are high. It is great at slowing the faster zombies down in the higher threat zones where they have picked up the pace immensely when transitioning from say tier 1 to tier 2 or from tier 2 to tier 3. You will notice enemies becoming much more agile.

Frost Blast can help slow down situations and give you time to think as to what your next action will be.

Aether Shroud MEDIUM RECHARGE RATE

Aether Shroud shouldn't be underestimated. Unlocked at level 39, its power lies in granting temporary invisibility to Zombies. While it may not boast the versatility of some counterparts, its significance becomes paramount in critical moments.

The ability to vanish from sight not only allows for opportunistic strikes but also proves invaluable when tackling Aether Nests or Infested Strongholds, providing a strategic edge and the freedom to navigate these challenges with ease, without being punched, bitten and kicked by zombies trying to order you for the lunch menu.

Tesla Storm - SLOW RECHARGE RATE

Tesla Storm is the pinnacle of field upgrades in MW3 Zombies, although unlocking it takes time, the payoff is immense. At level 50, this ability unleashes 10 seconds of lightning that connects to other players, stunning and damaging normal enemies.

As the sixth and final unlock, Tesla Storm is synonymous with devastation and chaos. Its potency is fully realized with a complete squad, consistently damaging and stunning enemies in any situation. Despite its "Slow Recharge" the benefits far outweigh the wait, making it a worthwhile investment in the pursuit of victory.

Thanks for reading as always and make sure to put these upgrades to use.
