Operation Deadbolt - Deadbolt Turrets - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Maps: Main Map Layouts -- Portals -- Doghouses -- Pack-a-Punch -- Aether Tears -- Blood Burner Aether Motorbike -- Exfil Locations -- Buy Stations -- Aether Zones -- Gas Stations -- Mystery Box Locations --

Hi guys,

Sometimes taking down massive hordes of zombies requires heavy-duty firepower and in Modern Warfare 3 zombies Operation Deadbolt, the Deadbolt Turret is your go-to solution. As you venture through the zombie wasteland of Urzikstan, you might stumble upon dormant turrets that are awaiting activation through a specialized CIRCUIT BOARD that seems to be missing.

Here's your guide to locating Deadbolt Turret Circuits and activating some automated, heavy  as heck firepower!

Acquiring a Deadbolt Turret Circuit Board

Deadbolt Turrets prove highly effective against various zombie types, making them indispensable for securing an easy victory. However, before you can deploy these formidable defences, you must first procure a Deadbolt Turret Circuit. Fortunately, finding them isn't an overly challenging task if you know where to look.

Circuits are commonly discovered within Aether Caches scattered randomly throughout the map. While their locations can be unpredictable, a reliable method involves purging an Infested structure. Aether Nests and Infested Strongholds, identified as infestation points on your map, are the two types of structures to target to be rewarded these circuit boards to aid you in your survival.

Both structures yield Aether Caches, with a good chance of containing a Deadbolt Turret Circuit. These circuits come in various ammo mod flavours, including Brain Rot and Dead Wire. Upon activating a turret, it utilizes the deposited ammo type, unlocking special effects tied to the chosen ammo mod.

You can also find these quite a lot in the GAS STATION's inside the TOOL BOXES lying around the place is also a good place to check if you are having trouble finding any on the map, or are not equipped properly to deal with an AETHER NEST or INFESTED STRONGHOLD. You can also find them at MERCENARY CAMPS or in MERCENARY STRONGHOLDS.

In the AUTOMATED BACKUP mission on this map, you will need to activate various DEADBOLT TURRETS in the map, the only problem is, finding the circuit boards to activate them.

Activating a Deadbolt Turret in MW3 Zombies

Once you've secured a Circuit, consult your world map for the turret icon's location.

Head over to the turret and interact with it to open a loot menu, allowing you to select and deposit a Circuit.

After closing the menu, the turret springs to life, unleashing a barrage of firepower on any undead threats in its vicinity, swiftly reducing them to pieces.

Deadbolt Turrets remain active for a few minutes before shutting down. To reactivate them, simply deposit another Circuit and close the menu.

These are extremely useful against bosses such as the MEGA ABOMINATION for example, as any time you run away from a boss for a breather or to simply reload or stack up your armour plates, these turrets will continue to dead some massive damage to any targets in its line of site. This means damage can be dealt to enemies even when you are not firing.

Always try to engage a boss near these turrets and activate them. No matter how many are in your squad, this will act like another squad member with an awesome weapon, who can do everything you want it to do except....revive you.

Thanks for reading as always guys.

Operation Deadbolt Exfil Map Locations - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Hi guys,

Initiating an exfiltration, or EXFIL, process in MW3 proves straightforward—simply navigate to one of the designated exfil locations highlighted on your Tac-Map.

Patience is key, as EXFIL locations won't manifest until 1-2 minutes into the mission. If, upon loading in, you don't immediately spot any exfil spots, stay calm. The randomness of these locations adds an element of surprise; however, several will always spawn to ensure each player has a viable option.

Some EXFIL locations will appear in the LOW THREAT zone and the odd one will also appear in the MEDIUM THREAT zone as well.

Upon summoning the Exfil chopper, prepare for a sudden onslaught of zombies emerging from the ground to thwart your escape. The zombie horde intensifies in size and strength, influenced by the duration of your time within the DMZ. Managing this overwhelming horde can prove challenging, particularly when attempting to transport their loot back to base.

Be careful when summoning the EXFIL in a zone higher than the LOW THREAT zone as these zombies move much faster and pack much more of a wallop than their LOW THREAT zone counterparts. This can sometimes throw people off guard when they get hit once from what they think is a single zombie and are in shock when their armour breaks instantly and they go down suddenly, only to turn around to see that 5 or 6 zombies have charged towards them in sprint mode without them realising and knocking them out with a swift uppercut.

Luckily, the seasoned undead battler knows the drill—circumvent the undead masses by employing the classic strategy of running in a circle. These zombies lack cunning intelligence, making a smooth exfiltration achievable by strategically thinning the herd with well-placed shots from your arsenal after training them into a large group coming from a single direction, rather than multiple zombies coming at you left right and centre makes them hard to avoid easily.

Using high explosives like semtex, C4, RPG's, claymores etc when the herd is in huge numbers makes for an amazing display of destruction while awaiting on your ride. If you have the field upgrade ENERGY MINE equipped, this also makes for an excellent edition to your explosive attacks as it delivers 3 bursts of explosions, tripling the destruction in a given area.

Mastering this technique ensures a successful escape from the relentless undead pursuit and a safe return to base with your hard-earned loot.

Operation Deadbolt Aether Storm Locations - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Hi guys,

As we embark on the eerie journey through Modern Warfare 3 Zombies' Operation Deadbolt, where the Aether Storm mirrors the ominous toxic gas of Warzone's past. As time ticks away, a burgeoning purple vortex materializes, steadily expanding the longer you linger beyond the initial playthrough time.

This will eventually kill you if you do not make it to an EXFIL location on the map before the AETHER ZONE has engulfed the entire map and wiped out every living, or unliving thing, within it.

Venturing into the heart of this AETHER ZONE unveils a formidable foe known as the Storm Caller. This mini-boss poses a considerable challenge, demanding a hail of bullets to subdue. Yet, the spoils of victory are tempting—a coveted Golden Skull, accompanied by treasures like a 3-plate vest and a spacious large rucksack are some of the spoils of war on offer here. The value of these items becomes apparent when considering their hefty price tag at a typical buy station, where each piece could set you back around 10,000 points.

The loot drop from the Storm Caller remains delightfully unpredictable, ensuring that each playthrough introduces a fresh element of surprise. While the Golden Skull is a guaranteed prize, its resale at a buy station fetches a handsome 5,000 cash to wield at your discretion.

For those facing the Aether Storm in a LOW THREAT zone, a strategic advantage emerges. The undead minions summoned by the Storm Caller prove more susceptible to defeat, facilitating a somewhat easier takedown of this menacing adversary.

Having a Pack-a-Punched weapon also makes killing him much easier and obviously, the higher the level it is Pack-a-Punched to, it will make quicker mince meat out of him.

You can also kill the STORMCALLER in a single attack if you have the BLOOD BURNER MOTORCYCLE. All you need to do is get the PULSE ATTACK charged up for the bike and then drive it into the AETHER STORM, located the STORMCALLER and drive it up to within a few metres of him and activate.....the STORMCALLER after that will not be calling anything after that attack, he is done for.

Find out how to get the BLOOD BURNER MOTORCYCLE HERE.

Approach the Storm Caller cautiously, for its proximity not only drains your health but also replenishes its own, intensifying the struggle to vanquish this formidable foe. Once conquered, the coveted Golden Skull falls to the ground, triggering a race among teammates to claim its lucrative rewards.

Only one person can pick this skull up and there is not one for every single player in your team. Be greedy and run to it as fast as you can to pick it up or offer it to team mates who are low on cash and need some help.

However, keep in mind that this prized possession cannot be carried over to subsequent playthroughs; it's a use-it-or-lose-it scenario, adding an extra layer of urgency and strategy to your Operation Deadbolt escapade.

Operation Deadbolt Gas Station Locations - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Hi Guys,

Within Call of Duty Operation Deadbolt, GAS STATIONS play a strategic role on the map. They are not just aesthetic features, they serve practical purposes in the game such as:

Buy Stations: Gas stations often contain Buy Stations, or one located nearby it, where players can spend in-game currency (Cash) to purchase various items, such as weapons, Armor plates, killstreaks, and more. These Buy Stations are crucial for players to gear up and strategically spend their resources during a match.

Supply Boxes: Gas stations are also common locations for Supply Boxes, which can provide additional loot, equipment and cash. Players often loot these areas at the beginning of a match or when in need of resources.

Vehicle Services: Gas stations have the additional utility of repairing and refuelling vehicles. This feature allows players to maintain their vehicles, adding a strategic layer to gameplay. It's particularly useful for players looking to keep their vehicles in optimal condition during the course of a match, especially armoured vehicles and ones with weapons mounted on top are extremely useful in the zombie infested landscape.

Strategic Locations: Gas stations are spread across the map and are often located at key points. Planning your route on the mini map before travelling long distances in a vehicle, either on land or on water, you should not be far from a gas station and be able to refuel or repair when needed.

Operation Deadbolt Buy Station Locations - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Maps: Main Map Layouts -- Portals -- Doghouses -- Pack-a-Punch -- Aether Tears -- Blood Burner Aether Motorbike -- Exfil Locations -- Buy Stations -- Aether Zones -- Gas Stations -- Mystery Box Locations --

Hi guys,

Buy Stations are critical locations on the map where players can spend their essence / cash, to purchase various items and services to help battle their way through the zombie infestation.

Here's a breakdown of what Buy Stations are used for:

Self-Revive Kits: Another important item available at Buy Stations is the Self-Revive Kit. This kit allows players to revive themselves if they are downed during a match, giving them a chance to continue playing without needing a teammate to revive them.

Armor Plate Bundles: Players can buy Armor Plate Bundles at Buy Stations to replenish their armor. Armor plates are crucial for protecting players from enemy gunfire, and keeping a full set of armor is essential for survival.

Killstreaks: Some Buy Stations offer killstreaks for purchase. These can include items like UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to reveal enemy locations on the mini map, precision airstrikes, and other powerful tools that can influence the outcome of a match.

Gas Masks: Players can buy Gas Masks, which become crucial during the later stages of a match when the gas circle closes in. Gas Masks provide protection against the toxic green gas that comes from the Aether Nests dotted across the map, allowing players to move through the gas without taking damage for a limited time to track down and kill the CYSTS in the various buildings.

Buy Stations add a strategic layer to the game, as players need to manage their Cash wisely, decide which items are essential for their survival or strategy, and be mindful of potential encounters with other players at these locations.

The cost of equipment and killstreaks varies across threat zones, with the LOW THREAT zone offering the most affordable options. While not all items are available in this zone, the MEDIUM THREAT zone expands the selection, albeit with a slight increase in prices for some equipment found in the LOW THREAT zone.

Moving into the HIGH THREAT zone unveils a broader array of exclusive equipment not accessible in the lower threat zones, alongside the familiar options from both LOW and MEDIUM THREAT zones. The escalating difficulty zones thus introduce a strategic balance between affordability and access to advanced resources.

Operation Deadbolt Mystery Box Locations - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Maps: Main Map Layouts -- Portals -- Doghouses -- Pack-a-Punch -- Aether Tears -- Blood Burner Aether Motorbike -- Exfil Locations -- Buy Stations -- Aether Zones -- Gas Stations -- Mystery Box Locations --

Hi guys,

As the undead onslaught intensifies, players find themselves relying on various weapons scattered throughout the map. However, the Mystery Box introduces an element of uncertainty and excitement, offering a tantalizing alternative to the weapons readily available.

Mystery boxes are located at strategic points within Operation Deadbolt, these mysterious crates serve as a lifeline for players desperate for a game-changing advantage at a not so high gamble of 950 points.

From this box there is a selection of awesome weapons, as well as earth shatteringly powerful weapons like the wonder weapons can sometimes also be acquired from these boxes, but of course, is not guaranteed.

To get one of the wonder weapons, be it the RAY GUN, WUNDERWAFF DG-2 or the SCORCHER, you have a better chance of getting one of these from the mystery box if playing through half of the game timer and then trying the boxes.

This is because there is a theory that the more you play through a game of zombies, the longer you stay in the map, the more chance you have of getting one of these delightful weapons of zombie destruction when coming near the end of the game.

However, it is all a bit of a gamble and even staying till the last second in a round before the Aether Storm takes over the whole map and trying your luck then, you still may not be lucky enough to get a wonder weapon.

It's just luck of the draw as they say.

Operation Deadbolt Wonder Weapons Guide - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Hi guys,

Let's dive into the thrilling arsenal of fan-favourite Wonder Weapons in MW3 Zombies, featuring two iconic classics and a newcomer to the ring, known as the Scorcher. For those of you who don't know, wonder weapons are powerful and unique firearms or equipment with extraordinary capabilities.

Ray Gun
Unleash the power of the timeless Ray Gun, a staple in the world of MW3 Zombies. This energy weapon delivers devastating shots with a futuristic flair, making it a fan favourite for its iconic design and unparalleled firepower.

Ways of Obtaining the Ray Gun
If your a gambler, then one of the easiest and most luckiest ways you will obtain a RAY GUN, is by spending some of your hard earned cash on the MYSTERY BOXES dotted around the map. These boxes tease you with a glimpse of the RAY GUN now and again but the chances of getting it are slim. The longer you play the game and play through the  current round, the higher the chance there is of getting one of the 3 wonder weapons.

You can also obtain it from crafting through Schematic Crafting Plans or through Reward Rifts in High Threat Zones.

Another approach is to undertake a Legacy Fortress, which significantly increases your likelihood of acquiring a Wonder Weapon. Upon successfully finishing the Legacy Fortress, explore both the safe and the Reward Rift for opportunities to secure a Wonder Weapon drop.

Free Ray Gun - Ray Guns for all Mankind...man that's crafty!
The good news is in Operation Deadbolt, the RAY GUN is actually craftable, meaning that we can technically have an infinite number of Ray Guns at our disposal, with cool down times on the schematics of course after each use.

In order to do this however, we will need to get our hands on the schematics first.

Let's find out what one of the best strategies is to getting this awesome piece of firepower.

So first, we will need to complete around 2 to 3 missions in the LOW THREAT zone first to get going on this quest. This is to save up 5000 points in order to buy a WALL BUY WEAPON from the HIGH THREAT ZONE which is of LEGENDARY RARITY.

Why do we need this weapon? It's because it is instantly more powerful a gun bought from the wall in this zone than even a Pack-a-Punched weapon which has been upgraded in the LOW THREAT ZONE. These HIGH THREAT ZONE WALL BUY WEAPONS pack some serious punch, without being Pack-a-Punched and make the rest of the game so much easier.

When they are Pack-a-Punched in LOW THREAT zones after purchase, then in the MEDIUM THREAT ZONE Pack-a-Punch machines, you will find that the weapon pretty much insta-kills zombies that are in the LOW THREAT zones. Learn about Fast Pack-a-Punch and cheaper in my guide

Now you have the LEGENDARY WALL GUN BUY, if you have an AETHER CRYSTAL, you can instantly use it on this gun as well to give another boost to the Pack-a-Punch level of this weapon.

If you have a LEGENDARY AETHER TOOL right from the start of the game and you have used it on your weapon already to Pack-a-Punch it, then you do not need to do the wall buy steps and can continue from this point onwards.

Next you should now use this amazing weapon you have to do some more missions and get some more money so that you can Pack-a-Punch the weapon again to get it to at least tier 2 or 3 whatever takes your fancy.

Next, we need to either PURCHASE A SENTRY GUN, or find one around the map, and find any CIRCUIT BOARDS TO USE IN THE DEADBOLT TURRETS around the map. Both of these will become extremely useful tools when you are in the TIER 3 zone doing some of the contracts, trust me, you will never leave home without these things again.

These turrets and guns shred zombies to pieces or grinds their health done in a hail of bullets, making them easier to kill with sometimes just a final shot needed to wipe them out.

Set the automated turrets down in places where a contract is taking place to hold back zombie hordes from attacking you and helping you to take care of the contract you are currently on, such as an ELIMINATE BOUNTY contract it will also shoot at.

Inserting the CIRCUIT BOARDS into the various DEADBOLT TURRETS will also give you some much needed fire power as well in what you are doing. Try to work in an area where a DEADBOLT TURRET is in the vicinity to cover your six.

The reason we need all this additional cover is because we will be doing CONTRACTS in the HIGH THREAT zone which can be really tough if you are under-equipped, unprepared and downright nuts to go in to these zones without some serious firepower, armour and backup.

All you need to do is keep choosing contracts in TIER 3 HIGH THREAT ZONE, complete the contracts and then check the REWARD RIFT at the end of each mission to see if it contains the RAY GUN SCHEMATIC PLANS.

All members of the team can pick up this reward. It is not a one person reward, its foreveryone.

When you do eventually find this, you will want to find the nearest EXFIL and get out of there so you will be home in time for supper.

Then you will do the same as the WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 below, simply go into the crafting menu's and craft the RAY GUN WEAPON CASE and equip it into your loadout. Then when the game starts, simply open the golden weapon case and it will be consumed, revealed the RAY GUN for you to use at your leisure.

You can of course create more ray guns after the cool down period has reset for future games and use it as many times as you like once you obtain it.

Wunderwaffe DG-2
The Wunderwaffe DG-2 makes a triumphant return, captivating players with its electrifying prowess. Known for its chain lightning effect, this Wonder Weapon is a must-have for those who seek to decimate hordes of undead with a single electrifying blast.

Free Wunderwaffe DG-2 - Wunderwaffe's for all Mankind! No they are not waffle makers!
Even more news, as if the ray gun wasn't good enough, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 is also craftable, meaning that we can technically have an infinite number of Wunderwaffe DG-2 as well. The usual cooldown that applies to all schematics will also apply here.

In order to get the Wunderwaffe in an unlimited supply is to start by making your way through each of the maps missions. You want to get to ACT 3 TIER 4 missions which is a HOLDOUT mission and requires you to:

  • Complete an OUTLAST contract
  • Kill 50 zombies inside the CORRUPTED SPACE
  • Exfil with the Wunderwaffe DG-2 plans
When you get onto this act and its mission tier, look for an OUTLAST CONTRACT on the map which is denoted by the SATELLITE DISH symbol on the map:

When you activate the contract and the PND device, you will be attacked by hordes of zombies as you have created a corrupted Aether space within that area. All you need to do is simply keep killing the zombie onslaught until the "Analysis Progress" on the left hand side of the screen reaches 100%.

As the mission mentioned you need to get 50 zombie kills on one of these contracts, if you only get around 45 say for example in a single OUTLAST mission, don't worry, as you can simply find another OUTLAST mission and get the last 5 kills on the next OUTLAST mission if needed.

Simply finish the OUTLAST contract and then when the REWARD RIFT appears, go over to it and you should find a reward for the "Wunderwaffe DG-2 Plans". Make sure it is the plans and not the acquisition of the Wunderwaffe DG-2.

If you look at the plans in your inventory, it will mention you need to perform a successful exfil in order to craft this acquisition for future deployments.

Now all you need to do is get to an EXFIL LOCATION and get the heck outta there!

Now all you need to do is go to the CRAFTING section in the zombies menu and select the WUNDERWAFFE DG2 plans to craft and start crafting as many as you like, after each cool down period has reset for the crafting time.

Then when you take the weapon case into the game, look in your inventory and EQUIP the WUNDERWAFFE DG-2. This will consume the weapon case you are carrying and give you the legendary weapon for use at your discretion.

The WUNDERWAFFE DG-2 can be obtained in the same various ways as the RAY GUN mentioned previously.

Scorcher
  • SEASON 1 UPDATE FOR SCORCHER: When a player reaches the maximum charge in low ammo situations, The Scorcher's launch ability will automatically activate.

Introducing the Scorcher, a recently introduced Wonder Weapon in the realm of Zombies. Emitting a distinctive red laser-like beam, this weapon allows you to shoot at the ground, propelling yourself into the air and enhancing your mobility.

Obtaining the Scorcher - Too Hot to Handle!
There are a few ways we can get our hands on this weapon of immense power. Let's take a look at one way, which is COMPLETING THE LEGACY FORTRESS on the map. In order to do this, we need to:

  • Search for a MERCENARY CAMP on the map. Go to this location and wipe out all mercenaries at this location. Then search the camp until you find their stash of cash and loot, where you will find a MERCENARY STRONGHOLD KEYCARD mixed along with all the goodies. If you do not want to take on a mercenary camp, simply go to the MEDIUM THREAT zone and to a BUY STATION where you can trade 2000 points for a stronghold key card

  • Take the MERCENARY STRONGHOLD KEYCARD to a MERCENARY STRONGHOLD dotted around the map. When you get to the stronghold, clear out all human enemies, some which will be pretty tough and be armoured, and secure the entire building. Once all hostile human's have been taken care of, search the building for a safe and start drilling into it to break it open. As usual, when you start drilling the safe, a progress indicator will appear and you will have to fend off several waves of enemies until the safe is cracked open. When this stronghold safe is opened, you will find the LEGACY FORTRESS KEYCARD

  • You then want to take this LEGACY FORTRESS KEYCARD over to the fortress near the top left hand side of the map, which is possibly one of the most dangerous places in Operation Deadbolt, aside from being in the HIGH THREAT ZONE. When at the legacy fortress, you will want to try to make your way into the middle of it and you will find a building that you can use the LEGACY FORTRESS KEYCARD on to unlock and allow you to enter. Inside you will need to clear 2 floors of enemies. The ground floor will have lots of boobie traps so keep your eyes peeled and watch your footing. Try to avoid throwing smoke grenades in here or things will get begin to get very hairy indeed. There will also be a lot of inflatable decoys that flash bang you when you shoot them. When you enter into this building the soldiers outside will also start piling in too. When you get to the second floor watch out for wires you will need to defuse along the way, as well as more decoys and enemies charging at you. There will also be trophy systems disabling you from throwing grenades into rooms on the top floor, as that is where the LEGACY BOSS is in the back room of the second floor. Once he has been killed, you will get a REWARD RIFT spawning which has the chance of rewarding you with the SCORCHER WONDER WEAPON.

The only down side really with the LEGACY FORTRESS is this can only be done once per game. This gives you the gun instantly to use, which means when you EXFIL, you will not be able to use it again as it is not stored permanently. To get it available for crafting and be able to use it all the time, there is another method we can use to acquire the SCORCHER PLANS, which means we can craft it anytime we want, albeit that it is not still within its usage cooldown period.

To get the SCORCHER WEAPON CASE, we need to go to the HIGH THREAT ZONE and just keep completing mission and getting reward rifts as we go. This will not give you the weapon itself to use instantly, but will give you the SCORCHER WEAPON CASE which can means you can use it immediately or on your next play through of you exfil with it successfully.

Unfortunately there currently are no SCORCHER CRAFTING PLANS at present to craft this weapon and and when you please. In the early access of MW3 you could actually craft this, so it might be included in some later DLC or seasons, but for now, it looks like it cannot be crafted just yet....sorry.

The SCORCHER NEVER RUNS OUT OF BULLETS as it charges itself again when stowed away very slowly or you can do it yourself. It fires a laser beam that cuts through zombies and stays in the area you fired it in for a few seconds and any zombies running into the beam will be mince meat.

It also has a traversal tactical advantage to it that no other weapon has and that is it throws the user up into the air allowing them to deploy their parachute if they ever get stuck in a jam and need a quick way to escape the area.

This is extremely useful to get you around higher tier zones safely without being bitten and slapped by zombies left, right and centre.
