Kowakujo Easter Egg Guide - Black Ops 7 Zombies

Secrets: Pack A Punch --

Easter Egg Guide: Part 1 -- Part 2 -- Part 3 -- Part 4 -- Part 5 --

Map Layout: All Areas

Hi guys,

here is the full Easter egg guide to the awesome Kowakujo zombies map, within Call of Duty Black Ops 7.

First things first, we need to open up the Pack A Punch Machine in the SHOGUN'S SANCTUM area of the map.

To get here it involves recapturing 2 of the wards in the area to the East and West of the map. Then beating the ONI and charging up the WORLD SEED in order to get it to appear.....that's it in a nutshell.

For a complete guide to activating the Pack A Punch, check out my PACK A PUNCH GUIDE.

Now that's out of the way, lets get into the nitty gritty of the Easter egg and hop to it.

This cat has 9 lives, but 3 parts to those 9 lives....which means it has 27 lives?

For our first step in this epic Easter egg, we will start off by building the CAT DOLL, there are 3 parts dotted around the map.

Each part, has 3 different spawn locations on each playthrough.

Let's find out where these parts are located...

Furin Part  Locations

The FURIN is a small WIND CHIME which is hanging from the ceiling in these 3 locations below.

  • Staging Area

  • Stables

  • Training Area

Maneki Neko Part 2

Maneki Neko is a traditional Japanese figurine believed to bring good luck and fortune.

Kitchens - In the corner on top of a wooden barrel

Kitchens - in the middle of the kitchen area on top of boxes

Gatehouse - on top of some boxes

Karakuri Puppet Part 3

Storage Rooms - on the floor with some jumble of items

Storage Rooms - on top of a table beside one of the blue lanterns

Workshop - next to the thatched barrel

Now we have all our 3 parts, we can now head over to the CRAFTING TABLE, which there is one located in the WORKSHOP area for example.

Interact with it and you will start building the MANEKI-NEKO, which is a tactical....cat....grenade.

I wonder what weapon I will get next

Now we need to start on building the WONDER WEAPON for this map.

In order to do this, we need to loosen up and get floppy.....that's right....we need to get the PHD FLOPPER PERK from the perk machine on this map. It is located in the STORAGE ROOMS area of the map.

Once you have this perk, head over to the TENSHU ENTRANCE area and where the AMMO BOX is outside in the main courtyard section of this entrance, if you look up in the corner of the BROKEN ROOF up top, there is a CAT dangling inside a CAT CAGE.

PHD FLOP below this CAT CAGE, and it will drop down to the ground.

You will then get a prompt to pick it up. Interact with it and we can be on our way....no need to paws.....in order to think....sorry cat pun.

Now we have our trusty cat cage, head over to an area where there is LAVA present on the ground, then throw the CAT CAGE into the molten hot rock. Don't worry, no virtual cats were hurt during this part of the post.

Now we have turned up the head on the cat, we need to progress onto the next round in order to move onto the next step.

Once the next round has started, we are going to want to head to the following 4 locations, in order to locate a set of PAW PRINTS that only appear when you destroy zombies in certain areas.

There will be 4 possible gateways / doorways, where we will check for signs of these paw prints and they can be found in the following locations listed below.

In order to check if the PAW PRINTS are in this area, kill about 5 or 6 zombies in the door ways on either side of them to see if when the blood hits the floor, the paw prints start to emerge and glow.

If after killing a few zombies you find nothing appearing, move onto the next possible spawn location:
  • Central Courtyard to Kitchen Area Gateway

  • Training area leading into the Stables Gateway

  • Staging area leading into the Stables

  • Kitchens leading to the Flower Garden area

When you locate where the PAW PRINTS are being generated, we now need to destroy large amounts of zombies, just ahead of the prints and the direction they are pointing in.

Each time you destroy enough zombies ahead of a current set of PAW PRINTS, a fresh set of prints will spawn slightly ahead of the previous one.

Do this several times and keep going until you see the PAW PRINTS FORM A SMALL CIRCLE on the ground.

What we need to do now is take our CAT GRENADE and throw it exactly into the middle of the PAW PRINT CIRCLE.

Try not to hit any zombies as it can bounce and ping out a totally different direction than you were anticipating. If you don't get it in the circle, you will need to go back to the CRAFTING BENCH in the WORKSHOP and purchase another one with salvage.

Another thing to note is that you can only do this in the area that the circle of paw prints have appeared in, when the lava is active and hasn't went dormant and hardened over to form a crust at this point.

The lava changes from hard back to liquid hot magma every couple of rounds in all the areas you may have noticed by now.

When you throw the CAT GRENADE into the CIRCLE OF PAW PRINTS, it will spawn in an ABOMINATION from the lava and you will have to destroy it. You will also notice a CAT jumping out of the lava into the area.

It is not the most difficult enemy to take on so even if you haven't upgraded your weapons to the latest and greatest yet, you should be able to take him out comfortably.

Once you destroy the ABOMINATION, it will then turn into a CAT. The cat after a second or two, will then run away into one of the holes in the walls in the area.

Once this happens, move onto the next round and we can move onto the next step.

Who knew death had such crazy perceptions
For our next step, we will first need to grab the DEATH PERCEPTION PERK from the STABLES area, for a very costly 5000 credits price tag.

This perk let's you see enemies through walls, but also other things that the naked eye itself cannot pick up.

We will be using it to perceive things like a carpenter or joiner.....as we will be looking for CREAKY FLOORBOARDS with it in various areas. We are not going to fix these as we are not getting paid for it, but it is a step of the main Easter egg we will need to do this for.

Now we need to look around in the map, in areas where we had trodden on previously when opening up the map, but may have heard these CREAKING FLOORBOARDS noises as you walk over certain areas.

Here is a list of all of these CREAKING FLOORDBOARD locations below. Basically these will help us find the CAT that ran off, after we destroyed the ABOMINATION earlier. The cat will be at 1 of 3 locations where the CREAKY FLOORBOARDS are located and should be sleeping.

With DEATH PERCEPTION equipped, you will see the floorboards glowing orange and their outlines being highlighted. This will help us catch the cat, without startling it and making it run off, as we can now avoid the noisy floorboards that are making a racket when we stand on them and could scare the cat away.

  • Kitchens Area - To the right of the MYSTERY BOX

  • Secondary Kitchen area - in the corner

  • Training area - also in the corner

If you go to these 3 locations and there is still no cat hiding, then try going to the next round and returning to these locations until you find it.

If the cat is at one of these locations, try not to startle it...by this we mean:
  • No shooting
  • No running
  • No field upgrade usage near it
  • No stepping on the ORANGE FLOOR BOARDS highlighted with DEATH PERCEPTION

Basically, you need to be as quiet as a mouse!

So when you find the cat, like in the example shown here in the image below, he is counting sheep and counting some Zee's:

We are going to sneak up on him and grab the cat. To do this, simply crouch and slowly approach the cat, walking BETWEEN any of the ORANGE HIGHLIGHTED CREAKY FLOORBOARDS. We are aiming to avoid the bright orange planks, not step on them.

If you do startle the cat somehow from the list of things its scared of....which is almost everything at this point....we will need to try this again in another round.

If you get to him hit the interact button and you will pick up a very cute looking cat called NEKOMATA.

Now we need to take him on a little trip over to the SHOGUN'S SANCTUM,

When you get there, interact with the WORLD SEED and the cat will launch into the air and land on top of the world seed, floating above it....absolute nuts this cat is....but a lot of fun already.

After a few moments the cat will become corrupted and the WORLD SEED will start pulsing out these RED CIRCULAR PULSES of energy. If you get hit by these, they will throw you back a metre or two.

All you have to do here is MELEE the WORLD SEED in-between these pulses and continue to do so until the cat jumps off the top of the seed and is released again. It should take around 8 - 10 melee hits to do this.

Once this happens, you can pick up the cat and it will now be the CAT WONDER WEAPON for this map called NEKOMANCER.

It has 3 different attacks which are:
  • Spirit Bolt
  • Hairball
  • Neko Punch
Now lets move onto the next step.

This suspect is masking his tracks
Now we move onto a step where it will involve collecting a mask from on top of the castle roof in this map.

However, we will first be using the newly acquired NEKOMANCER to light 11 LANTERNS located around the map, with a PURPLE FLAME.

This is a timed challenge so doing this as quickly as possible with minimum disruption is needed here at this point.

With the NEKOMANCER equipped, lets find out the 11 LANTERNS LOCATIONS and shoot them with the wonder weapon to light their fires:
  • Outer Ward Lantern - Just in front of the QUICK REVIVE PERK MACHINE, on the first rock ledge

  • Staging Area - on the corner of the small hut next to the cherry blossom tree

  • Gatehouse - to the side of entrance into the Staging Area.

  • Flower Garden - at the start of the broken bridge in this area

  • Kitchens area - just beside where the flag is to recapture the ward

  • Central Courtyard - when entering from Kitchens area, turn left and immediately in the corner

  • Central Courtyard - in the middle of the area where the huge tree is located in the centre

  • Tenshu Entrance - when going into the castle its on the right hand side of the courtyard area inside here

  • Tea Garden - just outside at corner of destroyed small shack in this area before reaching the lava landscape in next room

  • Training area - just off the map to far right hand side, hugging near the wall of the houses

  • The Stables - just across from the EXFIL BOOTH

When done correctly, you will get a dialogue from TAKEO where he says, even with the lights on, this place doesn't feel like home.

Thanks for reading as always guys.

Henry
