Now you need to head over to the WAR ROOM area. When you get here, you will find a patch of BLOOD on the ground and on top of it should be a ghostly blue outline of a person.
When you arrive here, you will trigger a little cutscene in this area that will play itself through.
After the cut scene has ended, you now need to head up to the ROOF of the castle and interact with a SET OF KITES that are catching the wind on an extended pole on the roof.
When you interact with the KITE'S, you will jump off the roof and become a bird......of sorts....soaring through the sky on the wings of this KITE.
You can see CURRENTS OF AIR in the form of THERMALS in the sky, which if you hit will keep the KITE aloft, allowing you to go further before landing.
What we need to do here is try to stay to the right hand side of the huge TREE that is leaning to the RIGHT HAND SIDE in this area. Its branches go over the top of a roof of one of the sections of this castle.
This is where we need to aim to fly towards, as there will be a MASK we will need to grab as we fly past the pointed part of this roof, directly underneath the trees leaves and branches, as shown in the pictures above.
As we go past the MASK location, we need to hit the interact button many times to make sure we grab this mask first time.
When you pick it up successfully, you will get a prompt from TAKEO saying "The Kitsune mask! Surely a valuable clue...", and there will be a white circular orb that briefly appears as we pick it up.
Now we need to take this mask over to the STORAGE ROOMS area of the map and place it on the WALL where there are other various MASKS hanging. You will notice in the middle of the wall, there is a hanging hook that looks like something is missing from here, which is the mask you now possess.
Hold the interact button here and it will place the mask on the wall.
Once the mask is placed on the wall, you will notice that the other masks will now start to GLOW RED in a specific sequence and order.
Masking the truth
Now we have our mask on the wall and we have interacted with it, the masks will glow red and in a particular sequence.
What we need to do now is when the masks glow red, we need to take note which type of mask glowed red and the order in which they glowed in.
This is because we will need to find and destroy zombies who are wearing these masks, in the exact order the masks were glowing in, on this wall. This will change every playthrough this sequence.
If we assign numbers to the masks, it makes it easier to know which mask we are actually referring to. Use this image as a reference to the masks you are looking for:
So for example for the first mask sequence, we had the following 3 masks activated:
This would mean looking at our reference picture above, these would be in the sequence 1, 2 and 3 masks.
This means we need to find a zombie first wearing the number 1 mask and shoot him, then the number 2 style mask with the red in it / big nose and shoot them and lastly the feathered style mask for number 3 to destroy.
If you accidentally shoot a zombie in the wrong order and not in the exact order shown by the masks, you will fail this step and it will force you to progress onto the next round, before you can try it again.
You will know you have failed the task if you check the masks on the wall and the mask you placed there will have BLACK SMOKE coming from it, meaning you cannot reattempt this challenge until the smoke has gone.
If you do it correctly you will then have to activate the wall of masks again, where the next time it will flash a sequence of 4 masked zombies to be destroyed in that exact order.
Then when that has been completed, activating it again will mean there are 5 masks and 5 specific zombies you need to kill in that exact order.
An overview of the 3 mask sequences is:
- Phase 1 - 3 masks activate, kill 3 zombies wearing these masks in exact order
- Phase 2 - 4 masks activate, kill 4 zombies wearing these masks in exact order
- Phase 3 - 5 masks activate, kill 5 zombies wearing these masks in exact order
Each zombie you destroy wearing the mask you will see that there is a RED ENERGY flows out of them and goes towards the masks on the wall.
Once all 3 phases are completed, there will be a small cutscene animation of the BLUE GHOST picking up the mask you had hung on the wall to start off the mask phases.
The ghost will then pick up the mask and put it on its head, before walking away from the wall and turning into a mask that flies around the map.
It will fly around to several locations on the map, where it will stop and hide somewhere in specific locations and we will need to find it and shoot it.
Shooting the mask at each location will then make the mask drop us a PIECE OF EVIDENCE that we will need to pick up.
The Flying Mask is clocking up airmiles, evidentally
The first location the mask will go to is not far from the wall of masks where it originated from. It will be to the left hand side of the stairs in the WORKSHOP area, as soon as you come in from the STORAGE ROOMS area.
It will be on a set of shelves in the right hand side, against the wall of the stairs, next to a barrel that is laying down on its side. You should see it on the bottom shelf.
Shoot it on the bottom shelves and it will drop the evidence piece called TAKESHI'S PIPE.
Make sure to pick this up.
The mask will then fly away onto its next location which is in the COLLAPSED STUDY.
It will be located up in the CEILINGS RAFTERS just in front of where the WUNDERFIZZ MACHINE is located.
It will be much easier to see this one as it stands out quite easily.
Simply shoot it and it will drop the second evidence piece which is called TAKEO'S CASE.
Then it will of course fly off again into the distance the mask and we will need to find it once again.
Now we need to head to the ONSEN BATHS area of the map and head over to the ELEMENTAL POP MACHINE. To the left hand side of this machine, there is a WINDOW.
Look into this window into the sharper, upper left hand side of it and you should just about see the MASK has arrived here and hidden itself quite well in this window.
Shoot it again and it will drop the last piece of evidence called MITSUHIME'S COMB.
Now we can head over to the MEDITATION ROOM area, where we will be using the evidence items we have collected to create a PAINTING on the wall in this room.
This will be one of 5 paintings we will be creating and it the very first painting we will be creating will be done by placing the 3 pieces of evidence we have collected, onto the set of SHELVES on the right hand side of the room.
Each time you deposit evidence, there will be a yellow glow of sparks and energy. Once all 3 pieces of evidence has been deposited for a particular painting, it will then appear on the wall in this room.
It is highly advisable that as soon as you get any evidence gathered for any of the evidence tasks, you come to this room and deposit it as soon as possible, just in case someone goes down etc in a game and you cannot find a particular piece of evidence if it has been dropped somewhere.
Now we can move onto the next set of evidence we need to collect in this map.
This evidence did not work alone....he had an accomplice!
This next batch of evidence we will be collecting is referred to as the ACCOMPLICE EVIDENCE.
In order to do this, you will have needed to complete the previous step of collecting all the MASK EVIDENCE, before you can begin this one, and making the painting appear on the wall for that particular evidence collection task.
We will start this one by getting the COIN PURSE piece of evidence.
When the game starts, at one particular MYSTERY BOX SPAWN LOCATION, there will be a WOODEN TAG with some JAPANESE WRITING on it. This does not have to be the location the MYSTERY BOX is currently at, it is any of the possible locations it can spawn at, which are the platforms it sits on.
The spawn locations of the mystery box can be in the following areas:
- Onsen Baths
- Flower Garden
- Outer Ward
- Kitchens
- Central Courtyard
- Tea Garden
- Stables
- Storage Rooms
- Tenshu Rooftops
When you find this tag, this will indicate that this is the correct location in order to start the COIN PURSE STEPS.
Now what we need to do is MOVE the MYSTERY BOX to this location which has the WOODEN TAG on the edge of the platform for the mystery box.
If you have already completed the EVIDENCE ROOM'S first painting, as soon as you move the MYSTERY BOX by getting the MISTER PEEKS BUNNY, it will definitely move here to this location straight away, most of the time.
What we then need to do is get the CAT GRENADE we had crafted earlier, make another if needed, and throw it beside or on top of the mystery box itself at this location.
When the cat grenade is near or on top of it, spin the mystery box and see what happens.
You should see a puff of energy emerge from it when it opens and an item should be available for pickup called the COIN PURSE.
If you want the MYSTERY BOX to come to you as such rather than trying to move it to the exact location the WOODEN TAG is at, you can do this if you have the MISTER PEEKS FIELD UPGRADE equipped, along with the PEEK'S FAVOR MINOR AUGMENT, that will then allow you to spawn the box in at a specific empty mystery box spawn platform.
Then you can just drop your cat grenade beside it in order to get the COIN PURSE. You can also use a FIRESALE to make the boxes appear all over the map as well, then you just need to find the one with the wooden tag and use the cat grenade again that way.
Pick this up and then we need to head back to the MAIN SPAWN area which is the OUTER WARD and next to the RAMPAGE INDUCER, you will find that there is a BLUE FLOATING COIN PURSE.
Interact with this and it will play another mini cutscene between 2 of the blue ghostly characters. Once this is finished, we can move onto the next steps of collecting the rest of the ACCOMPLICE EVIDENCE for this second painting we are working on completing in the MEDITATION ROOM.
We are now going to do the GARDENER part of this task and it can only be done after the COIN PURSE has been actioned.
Time to water the plants, a job for the gardener of course
For this next step, we will need a BUCKET OF WATER.
We will of course, first need to find a bucket. These can spawn in multiple locations and some of them include:
- Tea Garden - on the shelves of the small damaged shack with yellow light
- Stables - next to the perk machine in this area
Where ever we obtain our BUCKET from, we can then go over to the TEA GARDEN area for example and in the ground you will see some parts of the concrete have made potholes almost, and one of those is filled with water.
Hold the interact button while holding a bucket to fill it with water. You should be able to find puddles of water around the map in various locations.
You can check if the bucket has been filled by dropping it onto the ground and you will see and hear water sloshing around from it.
Now we need to head over to the FLOWER GARDEN area of the map and there will be 3 FLOWER LOCATIONS that we will need to interact with, while we are holding a full bucket of water.
Flower Location 1
Just to the right and in front of the ARMOUR WALL BUY, directly in front of the WISP TEA PERK MACHINE. It is on the small trail.
Flower Location 2
If we follow the small trail on round from the first flower location, it is located to the left of the WISP TEA PERK MACHINE, as the trail gradually goes up the hill.
Flower Location 3
The last location is just up the hill again from flower location 2, on this side of the broken bridge, just before stepping onto the broken bridge there is a green plant here. Hold to interact with it and splosh some water on it.
If at any point the water in your bucket runs out, simply run back to one of the many puddles on the map and refill it with water, then come back and completed watering these flowers.
Also if you take damage while holding a bucket of water, it will cause it to deplete quickly as well.
Once all 3 FLOWERS have been watered, it will spawn in a special zombie called the GARDENER.
If you shoot him he will be immune to your attacks, in order to damage him, you will need to break the 2 ORANGE POTS dotted around the FLOWER GARDEN, which glow a bright orange colour.
Once the 2 pots have been broken, you will be able to deal damage onto him. If you cannot destroy him in a certain space of time, he may become immune again, simply find another ORANGE POT and smash these in order to release the immune mechanic on him to allow damage once more.
Once you destroy him, he will drop the SHEARS evidence and a NOTE. Pick both of these up and we can move onto the next piece of evidence we will collect, which is from someone called the MERCHANT.
The merchant of zombies is a menace
This next step involves a TOMATO.....yes you heard me....a tomato....we are so red faced right now saying this.
We need to head over to the KITCHENS area of the map and in the section where the ARSENAL MACHINE is located, there is a set of shelves in the doorway as you come in.
On the top shelf, there will be a WICKER BASKET OF TOMATOES sitting here.
Melee the TOMATO BASKET and a SINGLE TOMATO should fall out onto the floor.
If it doesn't, it means this round, someone may have accidentally hit it and you will simply need to progress onto the next round in order to try again.
Once the TOMATO falls to the floor, simply leave the area and try to move as far away from it as you can, and stay away for about 1 to 2 minutes.
When you return to the TOMATO location, you should see a ZOMBIE EATING THE TOMATO.
If when you return to the TOMATO and no zombie has decided they wanted it for lunch, then you haven't waited long enough for the hungry zombie to appear.
When you find the zombie eating the tomato, it will then get up and start to chase you, with the tomato in its mouth.
You then need to guide and train the zombie, from the KITCHENS area, over to the STAGING AREA of the map.
You then need to lead it near to where the ZOMBIE SPAWN WINDOW is located right next to one of the PURPLE LANTERNS you lit with the CAT WONDER WEAPON earlier in the game. This is where the HILLSIDE entrance leads into the STAGING AREA.
When the zombie with the tomato in its mouth gets near the window, shoot it and the TOMATO will drop to the ground again.
Then after a few seconds a MERCHANT zombie will jump out of the window. It will then pick up the TOMATO and start to eat it again.
All we have to do is keep shooting this merchant zombie, while he starts eating tomatoes off the ground. He has quite a bit of health and is a bit tough, but nothing you cannot handle.
Once he is destroyed, the CAT will fall from the sky along with 2 items to pick up.
- One is the MERCANTILE ABACUS.
- The other is the WEEKLY SALES LOG.
If the MERCHANT is still alive when the round you are doing this on changes, you just need to go through the exact same steps all over again, to spawn him in again, starting with the TOMATO needing a melee top get out of the WICKER BASKET.
